We take care to collaborate with local suppliers and producers to preserve their traditions and heritage. We follow the cycle of the seasons to bring regional cuisine and, hopefully, preserving what Nature intended. We constantly source and develop our ingredients and techniques to bring high quality, fresh and flavourful dishes to our table.

Our menu at Aurum uses the best of the season’s produce and is locally sourced. We aim for it to be a combination of refined gastronomy with delicious flavour but, importantly, for it to be healthy, balanced and exciting for the eye, as well as the palate.

Wow! What an amazing dining experience. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel extremely welcome by friendly, service driven staff. The decor, location and view are beautiful, but the star of the show was without doubt the food. It was truly incredible and we will definitely be coming back again and again. Simon Webb is an incredible chef. Thanks to everyone at Aurum for a fantastic dining experience.

User

Where do I start, the Aurum restaurant is definitely the most wonderful experience in the most glamorous seafront hotel. The staff are friendly and attentive which I love when one is fine dining and they make you feel very relaxed. We enjoyed a 3 course meal with every plate exceeding my expectations, the Scallop starters were fresh and succulent. For mains I opted for the cod which flaked beautifully and finished off with the most divine chocolate mouse and passionfruit dessert. They have a brilliant range of drinks menu, although I stuck to the cocktails as they were simply heavenly. We can not wait to return with our friends and family to share our wonderful experience.

User

Went for afternoon tea. Lovely, sophisticated, quirky touches "oops I dropped the ice cream" & "bucket & spade", very apt for the location, beautifully presented. Very attentive staff but not intrusive. I went with my 90 year old Mum, aunt & husband but this tea is Ideal for any age or occasion

User

We very much enjoyed our fantastic dinner experience at Aurum. Lovely tasting cocktails, friendly bar staff who were happy to talk us though the choices giving great recommendations. We were made to feel very welcome by all members across all areas. The restaurant manager Sebastian really does know how to work a room of diners, he adds his French flare to create a relaxed and personal experience to all visitors. The food was superb too, cooked to perfection and tasting full of favour.

If only there was more great tasting side orders available as we found the choice of two slightly limiting to our desire to eat more.

We will certainly be back again soon to try the lunch menu, well done to all at Aurum.

User

We have been waiting in anticipation for the launch of Aurum and were lucky enough to be invited for the pre-launch.

Aurum follows suit of the luxury boutique style Hotel and the decor, ambience and friendly staff is a breath of fresh air for anyone looking for something a little bit more special in Southend.

The staff gave us a warm welcome and were very informative. The restaurant has a great mix of stylish booths for large groups and cosy corners to sip delicious cocktails and a special meal.

The talented chef has definitely given some love and attention to the menu and the Seabass is a must, don't just take my word for it, give it a try!

Keep up the good work and congratulations to the whole team.

User

The most amazing place to eat in Southend. Rivals top quality restaurants in London. Will be back soon

User

My first visit to Southend’s newest fine dining restaurant. Really impressed! The dishes were exquisite - exotic combinations, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The service from start to finish was outstanding, with all the staff going out of their way to ensure a top-drawer dining experience. Will definitely come back for more!

User

Menu isn’t big but lots of unusual ingredients and everything we had was absolutely perfect. The only down side was a waiter who forgot our drinks order, didn’t know the menu, when we said it was different online he explained it changes regularly but that he doesn’t deal with that so absolved himself of any responsibility. The dessert menu was very limited but unusual again. The cocktails were awesome. Decor is lovely but the acoustics need tweaking as there was a large table and it was extremely loud, meaning we couldn’t hear each other across our table for 4. There were only 2 or 3 other tables in the restaurant due to cancellations because of the snow. It is a beautiful place and hope the waiter issues were teething problems. We will definitely be back.

User

Lovely Resturant, decor new and modern. Service was wonderful and on par with top london restaurants. Drinks were beautifully served and great recommendations too. Food was absolutely perfect. My only tiny downer was how loud the Resturant was (needed something to absorb the noise as was like being in a full loud bar) other than this I would thoroughly recommend and go back over and over. Thank you.

User

Just celebrated a friends birthday here , from the moment we walked in the welcome was warm and friendly , we had the lunch menu needless to say the food was outstanding ! We sat by the windows so had a wonderful view out on the estuary , waiting staff are very well mannered and trained , keep up the good work here Aurum you have definitely nailed it and I will definitely be back with more friends to show this treasure we have in sunny Southend x

User

I went lastnight - I had the scallop for starter and the sharing steak for mains. Absolutely amazing, best steak and scallop I’ve ever eaten. Everything was cooked to perfection.

The service was excellent too. Warm and welcoming, happy to take the time to chat with the guests. We will be back! I’m so pleased Southend has this gem of a place. It is definitely going to be rather popular. Thank you everyone for a lovely evening.

User

I have now visited Autum twice. The food is amazing. Truly the best fillet steak I have ever eaten and the lamb was superb. Waiting staff are professional and knowledgeable and the service exceptional. Can’t wait to have another excuse to visit. I’ll be interested to see if the menu changes with the seasons and it could do with some more veggie options.

User

Best place to eat in Southend, great service and food. This place has really made an effort to stand out in Southend, not the cheapest place but certainly "reassuringly expensive". One comment worth mentioning, the Bossa Nova dinner jazz classics are an easy listen while dining however does come over a bit dated...think 'Are You Being Served' 70's elevator music. This is the only thing that needs a rethink in my humble opinion, great for the 'grey hair' brigade, but a trendy boutique hotel? I'm thinking Kong restaurant or Hotel Costes, Paris. In fact guys The Hotel Costes box album or St Germaine box set would be ideal, check it out.

User

Another visit on recommendation.

It’s not been open that long but it’s running quite smoothly although Jonathon was the waiter as well as manager.

It was a lovely day so the main doors were open so I was in the doorway looking out over the beach.

Me

Wasn’t offered the a la carte but the lunch menu was short but varied.

Starter was a quail dish beautifully cooked, no harness about the meat from overcooking, sauce lovely too.

Main was a babette and delicious and cooked to perfection, good quality meat too. Massive kudos, after the steak I was bought a pot of tooth picks, wonderful harping back to real service.

Dessert was a delicious mango souffle with a Marsala chai ice cream, a lovely combination.

The decor is quite dramatic but it’s a lovely hotel very boutique. Toilets beautifully clean.

Worth the visit? Oh yes, in time when it’s been running a bit longer it’s going to be a force to reckon with in the area.

User

Afternoon tea was amazing - the staff were all lovely and friendly and the food was very tasty. The sandwiches were very nice, I especially liked the chicken and avocado ones! The scones and cakes were delish too! Definitely will be where I would go for a local afternoon tea now. The new hotel is very nice and modern and had a lovely atmosphere.

User

A wonderful Sunday lunch. Quite frankly it is that best meal and overall experience we have had at any restaurant in the area. I know it's only been open for 5 days but if they keep this going Aurum's reputation will spread quickly and you will struggle to get in. Not cheap once you have cocktails and wine, but absolutely first class and imaginative food.

User

My fifth visit and have enjoyed it every time. Good ambiance, helpful staff, interesting menus and no rush. I really like the food here, flavours are excellent.

User

Lovely food and friendly staff, however a couple of points which let them down- the wine we wanted they didn’t have cold so we had to order a different one. The fish dish from the set menu was substituted and there must have been confusion when we asked about this as we ended up with something we weren’t expecting.. service generally a little slow and no music playing but generally a lovely evening with friends.

User

The hotel is very lovely and re furbed to a lovely standard . The food was very good and the overall ambience of the place was very pleasant . My only criticism would be of the service......timing and attention was lacking although all of the staff were very nice and very friendly . Not sure how they'd cope with a full restaurant !
