Autism All Stars is a small charity with a huge drive to create a happier, more inclusive world for autistic people and those who support them. We were founded in 2010 following the tragic suicide of a young teenager with all the symptoms of autism who was never formally diagnosed, which drives our mission to create safe environments where autistic people can express themselves, knowing they'll always be welcomed and accepted. Autistic adults are well represented in our organisation and are fundamental to every part of our decision making process. We have a strong social media presence and a popular blog, where we focus on acceptance, inclusion and respect for people of all ages and abilities. Over the years we've built a wonderful reputation for hosting inclusive character events such as ‘Doctor Who' days, ‘Star Wars' days, and both ‘Dinosaur' and ‘Dragon' days where our supporters can meet and interact with spectacular animatronic puppets. We hold regular ‘Icons for Autism' days, giving each individual time to interact with Batman, Sonic, Spider-Man and many others in their own unique way. These events raise funds which provide social activities, advice, counselling and essential supplies for autistic people and their families. Our free autism-friendly film and theatre clubs improve the quality of life for many local families, reducing tension and allowing them to enjoy experiences most people take for granted. In crisis situations where individuals are living in poverty, suffering the effects of domestic violence, recovering from addictions or dealing with mental health problems, autistic people's needs are often overlooked, as they may appear relatively unimportant given the circumstances. At Autism All Stars we know from experience what a huge difference even the smallest changes can make to an autistic person's life, so we're always happy to step in, identify what's needed and offer the appropriate relief, whenever and wherever it's needed most.
