Happy Father’s day to all the dance dad’s of Avian. Here is to you being taxi, helping your children practise at home, coming to all the shows/productions/competitions/classes, listening to them talk constantly about what they learnt and being there for big cuddles when they are feeling super proud of something they have achieved or when they are having a wobble because they find something difficult.

Ballet underpins so many dance styles.
It is not only beautiful to watch, but it also develops technique, strength, balance, co-ordination, flexibility and control coupled with confidence, understanding of how the body moves, musicality, performance and dancing alongside others.
We create an atmosphere in class that encourages safe development of the body through natural progression, offers the students opportunities to showcase their personality as well as learning the corr...ect technique and language of ballet and above all, fall in love with dance.
Our current ballet classes are on a Thursday at Taverham Junior School, from 4.45pm and on a Wednesday at Sprowston High School, from 5pm.
We have so many genres available including: Ballet Tap Lyrical Musical Theatre Acro Commercial Street Baton Twirling

Wow. The improvement from these pre-schoolers is insane. Not only in strength, balance and tumbling skills (achieving their forward rolls and starting to lift their legs higher in cartwheels) but also their listening skills, following instructions and working with others.
Acro class one have been sending endless videos all half term of their hard work and improvements with lots of them achieving handstand to bridges and kick overs showing their determination and dedication. ...We even had one of our newest students achieve her first push up into a bridge!
Acro class two have been really working to develop their strength, walkovers and back flexibility in particular. Tonight they even managed the confidence to have a go at 13 block high dive rolls!

We are super excited to announce our WHOLE SCHOOL production for 2019...
PANTASTIC
All classes will have a part in this production. We will have lots of ballerina Tinkerbells and Peter Pans, Street dancing pirates, Acro lost boys and Hook is going to have some sassy commercial backing dancers to name a few!
... Auditions for main roles will be on Wednesday 10th July, 5-7 at Sprowston High School. They must be fluent readers to audition for a main speaking part. Please contact Miss Amy to book your audition slot and you will be given your lines and song to prepare - amyaviandanceschool@outlook.com
Performance dates are: 16th November - dress rehearsal (venue and time TBC) 17th November - Performance (same venue as dress rehearsal, time TBC)
If you are successful in your audition, you MUST attend our musical theatre class on a Wednesday evening at Sprowston High School. Auditions are open to the whole school - with this in mind.
Roles will be allocated the week before we break up for the summer so you have 6 weeks to learn your lines. All other classes’ choreography will begin in the new Sept term.
Bespoke costumes are being made to make our Peter Pan experience come to life!
We can’t wait to get started - bring on the auditions!!!!!

Our musical theatre teacher will be teaching songs from Oliver!, running acting sessions to build confidence, learn/act sections of the play and help students become beloved characters such as Oliver, the Artful Dodger, Nancy, Fagon and the orphans!
We will also have various dance sessions including Acro and theatre dance to develop into the scenes.
This workshop has something for everyone and will give students the opportunity to have an all around experience of productions and musicals.
Places will be limited to ensure the best possible experience on the day so book in early to avoid disappointment!
