Travel Commentator, Simon Calder, known as ‘the man who pays his way’ comes to Aviramp!
Simon Calder is Britain's leading travel commentator and is known as “the man who pays his way”, which means that he ‘always’ pays for his own travel. Always the ‘go to man’ for both the BBC and ITV when any kind of travel crisis emerges, Simon has been an independent journalist, reporting knowledgeably in the field of travel and tourism for many years. A familiar face, and one that consu...mers clearly trust!
He began his career at Gatwick airport, where he cleaned out planes for Sir Freddie Laker and, later, frisked passengers (for a job, that is; not a hobby). He then started to write travel guidebooks and travel articles. Today Simon is Senior Travel Editor of The Independent, Simon also writes for the Evening Standard, the i newspaper, the Independent on Sunday, BA’s inflight magazine, High Life and a host of others.
The Aviramp team are delighted to announce Simon will be sharing his insights and forecasts with you regarding trends in aviation and flying, which will certainly engage our industry-led audience.

The Darling of Regional TV to host Aviramp EXPO!!!
Joanne Malin can be seen across the West Midlands presenting Midlands Today on BBC1 and has previously presented on ITV, Sky News and Live TV.
On radio she has worked for Reuters and Virgin and had her own mid-morning magazine show on BBC WM from 2009 until 2012.
... As an excellent live presenter she has fronted the biggest live TV event of the year - Children In Need across the West Midlands for 4 years.
Joanne trained as a Broadcast Journalist in 1992 and has been on-air constantly since then.
Although best known as a studio presenter she has been recognized for her reporting skills winning The Harold Wincott Prize for Business Journalism, a national broadcasting award and 3 Royal Television Society Awards.
Joanne has also starred in pantomimes at the Garrick Theatre in Lichfield, twice as the good fairy and most recently as The Wicked Queen.
A very lively, vivacious, engaging and popular lady who audiences love. So we are looking forward to welcoming Jo at the RAF Museum Cosford as our host for the day to ensure we deliver a smooth running programme for all our special delegates!

Trials have begun at Gatwick Airport. EasyJet will using the Aviramp Continental to test the efficiency not to mention the dignity for PRM boarding and disembarking. Early tests have already proven the speed of positioning the unit against the aircraft as it took under 1 minute to set up.

Aviramp is ready for operation at Cancun Airport, comprising 8 Aviramps- 5 continentals, 1 International and 1 continental 757! The operational team at Cancun are very excited to be using this pioneering ground support equipment. This will certainly increase efficiency in passenger flow and help with the increased number of passengers this year. A clear example of improved safety, operational efficiency, OTP for airlines and offer an all inclusive passenger experience.
