📝Here's another save the date for you. Get those diaries out because you won't want to miss this one. 📝
𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟴 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵 (only 7 tiny weeks away)
What is it?
... Lanterns! We just can't get enough and we’re really exciting to be working with Fegg Hayes Futures on running Lanterns in the Valley, a community lantern event created with the people of Fegg Hayes, Chell and Chell Heath.
This year we’ll be exploring adventures real and imagined of The World Beyond and can’t wait to see what weird and wonderful lanterns people come up with.
The parade will be on Friday 8 March (meeting at 5.45pm)
There will be more details of workshops and events coming soon, so watch this space.

Today there's a FREE film premiere showing the documentary made by Daniel Shaw, a young musician (and member of The Movie Mavericks), who went to Srebrenica with YMCA North Staffordshire. Daniel and others felt the need to capture the feelings and intentions following the visit as well as giving the chance for the audience to learn about the consequences of war and its impact on Srebrenica, Bosnia.

How do artists shape a city? Artcity conference October 2019
So how do artists shape a city? Can we disrupt expectations? Can we influence others to behave differently? Can we change the story of a place/ a space? What happens when the art, the theatre, the music, the events happen away from traditional arts spaces?
Join us for a two day conference in Stoke-on-Trent to tackle these questions and more.
... When is it?
17 & 18 October 2019
Where is it?
King’s Hall in Stoke-on-Trent & will have events and sessions that take place across the City.
The conference will happen at the same time as the British Ceramics Biennial Festival and the Conference Activity will be co-ordinated to take advantage of this.
Who is the conference for?
The conference is for; artists and arts companies from all disciplines (especially those working in non-arts venues e.g. outdoor arts, projection mapping, pop-up events, site responsive/ specific installation work), creative producers, landlords, local authorities, funders, policy makers, arts development agencies, networks/ infrastructure bodies working in the UK and beyond.
We are particularly interested in sharing and showcasing work that happens in third tier cities, and in areas that face significant economic and social challenges.
The purpose of the conference is to; • capture what is happening • build knowledge • provide support and possibilities for collaboration through new connections and networks
Artcity has been a five-year programme making arts from all disciplines happen in underused spaces in the city of Stoke-on-Trent.
Artists and arts organisations in the city developed the programme to make more opportunities for artists to work and to attract more artists to live and work in the city. Part of this mission was to influence how people talked about the city. It has been a journey of survival, challenge and dialogue.
Curation: Artcity Consortium: Airspace, B arts, Cultural Sisters, PiCL, Dust, Nic Winstanley
This will be a ticketed event, details coming soon. Watch this space.
Times to be finalised.

We attended to The Forest of Dreams show this Friday, and am so pleased we made the journey from Nottingham to Stoke to see it- we would have travelled much further if we had to because it was more than worth it! A really well structured and immensely accessible and inclusive work of art. Beautifully and robustly designed and delivered, with seamless, genuine and very skilful performances from professionals and community alike. The Keel Women's community choir were literally spellbinding. Thank you so much for doing what you do, and doing it so well.

I did the bread making course with B-Arts yesterday and it was AMAZING!! Susan was great, and talked us through the process with ease and giving us lots of advice, tips and confidence! The lunch and cakes at breaks were delicious too! We left with five different, delicious and very impressive loaves each, one of which we could create ourselves.

I would recommend this course to anyone. It was a delightful way to spend a day with great company and a wonderful atmosphere. I left thinking how very lucky we are to have a company and community group like this in Stoke! Thanks Susan, Emily and the rest of B-Arts!
