i have decided not to show the England match tomorrow as we are not properly licensed for it, and it's really not worth getting the proper licenses for what we hope are two matches. Sorry!

User

It looks like we will be showing the football tomorrow!

Has anyone got a screen. Katie has a projector, so if we can get a screen we will put on the England match tomorrow afternoon.

I had a visit from Sam Smith from Samuel Smiths Brewery last week. He has come back to me with dates they are brewing the fruit beers at the Melbone Bros Brewery in Stamford. They are 15,17, 22, and 24 May and then no brews planned until September. These are mid week days, which might be problematic for some. Or we could just visit the brewery on a weekend when there is no brewing going on. The building is apparently fantastic.

I had a visit yesterday from Sam Smith from Sam Smiths brewery. I asked him whether we could visit the Fruit Beer brewery in Stamford. He said that they do not usually do brewery tours but if I give him a call he will arrange it. They only brew 6 times a year and he will let me know when the next one will take place.

The trip to Charnwood brewery was a great success, probably the best so far. It's a small brewery but so well organised, and the beers were distinctive and really good. I have ordered some for next week! Excellent company as always with John Hodgett, Andy Carter, Dominic Sore and Pete Ladkin.

Charnwood Brewery trip. Everything is arranged for this Saturday. The train leaves at 11.26am and takes 10 minutes. There will be 5 different brews to taste and Andrew Reed is going to show us around the brewery. He recommends The White Hart for lunch. They serve Tim Taylors, Sarah Hughes, and a Charnwood beer. Looking forward to it. If anyone else is interested just let me know!

There seems to be a fair amount of interest in going to Charnwood Brewery on 28 April. I reckon we shouid get the train at about 11am. It's only a fiver to get there. £3.50 if you possess. a senior rail card! The Brewery is 10 mins walk from the station and there is a pub at the brewery. There are apparently a couple of good micro pubs we could take in on the way! www.charnwoodbrewery.co.uk

I met wih Charnwood Brewery yesterday from Loughborough who would love to welcome a small group for a brewery tour . It is conveniently situated within 10 minutes walk from the station, It is a small brewery, but there is a brewery tap where all beers are £3, and several pubs nearby.

Price decreases on beer! It is with pleasure that I can announce that after delicate negotiations the price increases on Harvest Pale and Becks have been reversed and both have gone back to £3.40.

User

Green Devil did not last long despite the absence of Andy Talbott.

POULTER’S PORTER A PORTER BEFITTING A HERO
Private Arthur Poulter, was awarded the Victoria Cross (Britain’s highest award for bravery) for gallantly carrying ten wounded comrades to safety, amid intense fire, during the great German offensive of the First World War in April 1918. When asked how he found the strength, Arthur credited it to the time he spent working at Taylor’s maltings carrying sacks of barley. His photograph still adorns our brewery walls to this day. So, it...’s with pride that we can pay tribute to this hero with a Porter as full of character as he was. Here’s to you Arthur!
Poulter’s Porter is a rich, dark, warming 4.8% porter with hints of coffee, chocolate and liquorice – perfect for crisp winter evenings.
This will be on tonight!! Don't miss it.

I spent a very pleasant evening as guest of Oakham Ales at their Brewery tap. Every year they treat their top 75 pubs to Thai food and unlimited quantity of beer and wine. Talk about a piss up in a brewery! Some very very drunk publicans! I stuck to JHB and steered well clear of Green Devil.

I have just been offered a barrel of Titanic Plum Porter Grand Reserve 6.5%. What do you think!

The best watering hole.

User

Lovely small pub in a very nice part of Leicester. Pass the place every day and think I really ought to stop by more often

User

Lovely place. Very generously donated to my school raffle last two years running. Great atmosphere inside

User

Love the bay window table upstairs. Great ale. Beautiful people

User

I would describe this more as a pub than a wine bar. It had excellent real ale and, despite living in Leicester, we found it only because it is now listed in the national CAMRA Good Beer Guide. A cosy place with a lovely friendly atmosphere.

User

Great gin and tonic selection cheese boards are a must!!

User

Fantastic atmosphere! Great location to meet with friends and have a good chinwag, and then have an attempt at the piano!

User

Excellent real ales. Friendly staff. Will be going back when in the area.

User

Always a great place to go for a quick drink or the evening. Excellent selection of wine. The cheese board is a must.
