My amazing little Baby Bear has reached a huge milestone today... HE TOOK HIS FIRST STEPS completely unassisted. My heart could burst at the moment 😍 Anyone else had a milestone recently? #workinprogress #getseen2018

Productive day today. Impromptu play date first thing this morning. Trip into town for more envelopes. Two loads of massage towels washed. And the first batch of Christmas Card templates are ready to go to the post office this afternoon when Baby Bear wakes up from his nap.... What does it take to be a mummy? I could list lots of words all positive by nature like, loving, caring, generous etc. But the word that resonates with me is STRENGTH. It takes real strength to be a mummy not just physical strength but emotional strength. Strength is needed when your little one is growing inside of you, the strength to roll over in bed in the later part of pregnancy, strength to tie your shoelaces sometimes strength just to walk. Then there is the strength n...eeded to give birth by all forms. The strength to place your trust in the person delivering your baby or the strength needed to do it yourself if that is the situation you are in. The strength to get you through the first few nights of pure sleep deprivation. The strength to keep going every single day. The strength for the countless night feeds. The strength to leave the house when you just want to stay inside. The strength to do household chores when you are still recovering from birth. The strength needed to carry your little one 24/7. The strength when you just want to sit and cry. The strength to ask for help when and if you need it, this one takes real strength and courage but it is in fact very difficult to do. Whether that help be a cup of tea and a chat or help at home or help if you feel overwhelmed. Strength is needed in all aspects of being a mummy. There is an old saying that “it takes a village” this is still true now, raising children takes strength and you are strong. I am always around for a chat if anyone needs it 💙

Biscuits can sustain you ... Right? I can remember in those early weeks after my baby Bear was born when he wanted to be attached to me 24/7 but didn’t want to go in a sling so I wasn’t hands free. When he wouldn’t sleep for more than 10 mins unless he was laid on me (which is perfectly natural by the way). When the initial visitors have stopped coming and you are alone at home with your new baby and you are both getting accustomed to this new life. Finding time for simple ...self care that you wouldn’t have blinked an eye at pre baby can become a mammoth task.... like eating! Your baby has just nodded off on you and you gently place your baby down so you can grab a quick bite to eat and maybe a hot drink ☕️ . You are faced with the quandary as to what to make... you know your baby will not be asleep for long so a meal that takes a lot of preparation is out the question also a meal that has noisy preparation involved is out of the question just incase it wake your baby up. My go to was biscuits and cake because it was quick and easy or any food that I could manage one handed in case he woke. In hindsight I should have put more thought into this and maybe made a packed lunch the night before. Sleep deprivation and a poor diet is not good for your health (no matter how many times I told myself that carrot cake was one of my five a day). I was also faced with the choice between eating, showering, cleaning, laundry or any other little task that is huge with a little baby. I usually always put eating last and some days I would totally forget to eat until my partner came home because I was so busy trying to keep on top of everything else. But what I have learned is that the dishes can wait, the washing can wait, the hoovering can wait, the cleaning can wait, most things can wait. Self care and cuddles with your precious newborn baby can’t wait. Have the fridge/cupboard packed with healthy snack like food that you can grab on the go and try and make a packed lunch and remember to eat it, YOU NEED SUBSTANCE. Obviously cake and biscuits are still good

Today Baby Bear went on a nature trail in one of the local parks. Baby Bear had an absolutely wonderful time looking through the grass and climbing on the climbing frame for better views
