Baby Swim School

Hi, My name is Zoe and I have been running Baby Swim School since 2009, I have classes at both Gayton pool in Littleover (Mon, Fri and Sat) and Barton Aquadome in Barton under Needwood (Wed). Xx

I graduated from college with a BTEC National Diploma in Early Childhood Studies; I have always loved and worked with babies and small children. In 2008 I qualified as a ASA level 1 in teaching aquatics, this is when I really decided my passion was to teach baby swimming so after another year of studying in 2009 I was a fully qualified BPC teacher. (Baby and preschool Certificate)
At the beginning I ran 4 classes a week and from that my company has grown from strength to strength, which has enabled me to bring two other fully qualified STA (swimming Teaching Association) instructors on board and we are now doing a total of 14 classes a week.
I write and run my own syllabus which has been designed to teach babies all aspects of baby swimming from water confidence and awareness to submersions and eventual independence. We have regular assessments to check development and see which teaching methods are working.
I run a photos session using my own underwater camera to capture those magical underwater shots of both baby and parent, in the photo classes we also have my other team members taking pictures off all the babies playing and enjoying the water and toys.
One of my newest classes is a survival session, the aim of this session is to help both parent and baby learn and understand basic survival skills and feelings, if they were to ever fall or come into contact with water fully clothed.
We have a total inclusive policy and have many parents and babies with hearing and visual impairments and some other varying disabilities. Swimming has so many physiological benefits for all involved in the classes.
All our classes are planned around one of the most important things little ones want in the water FUN. . . we use our own songs and games to make every class FUN and memorable for both baby and parent. We teach a wide skill set most of which can be adapted and used in everyday situations not just for the pool.
I had my little boy in 2011 and it has been amazing to see him develop and grow into each level of his swimming. All my instructors have their own children which gives them a good knowledge of techniques and skills to really bring out the best in our Baby Swim School Babies.
Teaching baby swimming is my passion, my aim is to give each little one that comes to my classes a gentle introduction to the amazing world of water.
