Back of the Sofa is a new service aimed at the UK's 350, 000 small charities who've collectively let £3. 5 billion slip un-noticed out of their pockets… lacking time / experience when it comes to finances, sold-short by suppliers and neglected by the Taxman. This could be tax relief that you didn't know existed (or how to go about claiming); rebates you are literally sitting on and discounts on overheads like utilities for which you could be paying a lot less. Who's checking to see if you're overpaying or wasting money by mistake? For example, a third of charities are unaware they are entitled to pay 5% VAT on things like energy bills and the only way to reduce it down from 20% is to fill out the necessary form. Or that a rebate for overpayment can be claimed for up to four years… if you have the patience to deal with the utility companies! And if you - like most people - have not switched your energy, telecoms or insurance in the past year or ever for that matter - it's likely that you could cut your bills 20-30% . . . even if you stay with the same supplier.
