⚽️ Saturday 1 June 2019 ⚽️ Champions League final: Tottenham v Liverpool Live in Baildon Rugby Club - bar open until midnight! Kick Off: 20.00
Today all three of our teams played at the Yorkshire Carneigie 7,s festival! A sign of how far we have come. I had the opportunity to watch all three sides and reflect on our journey together over the last 5/6 years. We have gone from a handful of players to three competitive teams. All the girls worked hard for each other, passed and tackled well, ran with the ball, supported each other, and other teams when short. Parents smiled, coaches laughed, and referees and officials ...congratulated us on our play and friendship! Today I experienced some firsts in all my years of rugby! The games stopped due to injury on the other pitch, the girls talked with each other, then a game of, DUCK, DUCk, GOOSE , with both sides taking part! The poor referee, stated, 'If you can't control them, I haven't a chance'. Restart and rugby goes on. The officials called time, the ball goes into touch, game over? NO, the referee hadn't had a lineout all day, so we played one, then blew up. These things alone display the fun element of our game. Today I thank everybody for their hard work over the season, Coaches Tom and Tyler, U13s, Lisa and Andy for kit and first aid, Michael for his refereeing,Sarah for kit and first aid, Carolyn at U15, who has never coached, but is giving her time up to learn and help. Matt and Karl coaching, Kirsty for first aid and Kit U18. Mick for photographs, Donna for arranging the games, and the players. Parents for your support and transporting your own children and others, your photographs. WildeWools for their sponsorship! Today was Karl and Kirsty's last day with the U18,s! It hasn't been easy, and Karl himself will tell you he could have resigned early in the season. He didnt, he stuck with it and worked really hard, an hour+ travelling to training and home fixtures, trying to make things work with small numbers, cold and wet in the middle of winter, missing opportunities at work, why? Because he loves the club, the girls, the game. He made a difference! Karl stood up and helped us out! I am very grateful.and I know you are too! Without volunteers we have nothing. The season is over, we continue to play together at O2 touch, we develop new skills. Your coaches are attending course to enhance their skills, and bring these skills to you next season. Enjoy your summer! Thank you to everyone of you,. In the words of Mick, 'I Love Sundays'.
