Provoking controversy and snapped up by collectors and dealers, Stella's paintings are undeniably vibrant, colourful, irreverent and funny. See them for yourself from Tuesday 8th January. Stella was born in Alnwick and often returns to the town to visit family and to paint.

User

Looking forward to this

Don’t forget to book your tickets for this interesting talk and the pop up exhibition by Northumberland Archives is on from Tuesday 8th January

We would say that this is 1 dedicated fan. Wonder if it works? Keep an eye out for our 2019 sewing workshops from our dedicated volunteers.

Left handed? Find out what happens if you are in Thursday night’s BBC 2 Back in Time for School programme. A group of teenage boys and girls turn back time from the Victorians, through to the Edwardians progressing through to the 90s in this six parter.

Only 1 week to go before we re-open for 2019! Lots of lovely exhibitions planned, workshops and our brand new websites. Yes websites! Look out later this month when we go live....we plan a current website so you can keep up to date on everything happening in 2019 and beyond, and the other, our Collections, so you can delve into the past. Our first exhibition is Stella Vine, a very interesting and vibrant exhibition. Did you know that Stella used to come to St Mary's Church (now the Museum) when she was a young child?

The Trustees and volunteers would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year

A proper #throwbackThursday from today’s Northumberland Gazette. 25 years ago when we were a mere twinkle in the eye.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the museum. It is very well laid out, with a huge amount packed into a small space. Our children (nearly 6 and nearly 8) liked exploring and investigating all the different sections. The Harry Potter exhibition was really well thought out, with incredible attention to detail. There is plenty for the children to interact with and the staff and volunteers have clearly spent hours and hours putting it together. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our visit, staff were lovely. We enjoyed hunting for the mice & our 3 year old loved the mice under the floor. Very informative museum.

User

Vistited the museum with my 4 children yesterday on our way back home from holiday & my older children (14 & 11) absolutely loved the Harry Potter exhibition. We also enjoyed the permanent exhibition. Highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area 😀

User

Took our 5 year old daughter - she had a great time with the Halloween activities - the 2 ladies that supervised the crafts were lovely & so attentive. We spent a good couple of hours there looking around & interacting with the displays.

User

This Then and Now exhibition is excellent. Enjoyed it very much.

User

Small but well packed exhibition. Staff very friendly and helpful, not expensive and just outside castle gate

User

I went along to see the Harry Potter exhibition and it was really good. We loved having the chance to dress up and and have some fun! The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating.

User

I love seeing the updates about the museum! I was a St. Cloud State student at the castle while the museum was getting ready to open and my community participation was helping to get the displays at Bailiffgate ready, and remember the grand opening well. Hope to make it back with my kids to see the museum and town soon.

User

Fantastic independent museum with interesting local history featured downstairs and a changing programme of exhibitions and events upstairs. There's a great little museum shop too and they hold regular community events and workshops.

User

Excellent visit with friend and 3 boys aged between six and eight... Boys enjoyed dressing in armour, helmets etc and my friend especially enjoyed dressing up in the various ladies costumes on top floor. Kids loved looking for the mice too... I enjoyed the old classroom with its old fashioned rules and punishments...

Staff fantastic and very knowledgable..

User

Came here for the first time today, it’s a lovely little museum with some good permanent displays and a really fun exhibition on toys. Plenty of hands on fun for the kids!

User

Beautiful building full of history. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Visited specifically for the Harry Potter illustrations by Jim Kay exhibition, which was excellent but will definitely return to see other temporary exhibitions. The admission fee is good value for money. Small shop, clean toilets, stairs, as the exhibits are over 3 floors but there is a lift. Really enjoyed my visit.

User
