About Bakers Arms
Vintage Inns Pub
Bakers Arms Description
The pub's history dates back as far as 1851, serving as the heart of the local rural community. Throughout history it has been run by families and it has served as the headquarters for numerous local businesses and crafts. A recent refurbishment has been welcomed, seeing a rise in guests from nearby towns including Upton, Arne and the idyllic Lytchett Bay.
A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Wonderful birthday lunchtime get together with 10 friends. The staff were amazing especially Hannah who served us. A vegan menu was trialled for first time and several of our group ordered from it and were very impressed. The meat selection was fab too!! Plenty of little private areas to sit with small or large groups and lovely atmosphere!!
We had booked a table for 4 of us .. on arrival ..we were escorted , sat down , our drinks order taken promptly.. menus distributed just after . Lovely service, lovely staff & very scrumptious Roast chicken, Beef, Pork ... Will definitely be returning ..
The food and service was really good there was lots of space and a nice setting to boot. I would recommend this country pub as I felt it was great value for the money
Only stopped for a drink and light lunch but food was delicious, pub was lovely. Will definitely be back!
Lovely lunch on Saturday, Emily our server was both friendly and polite. But your chocolate Brownie...... amazing!!!! Probably one of the best yet. X
Just got in from another lovely meal at The Bakers Arms, it was really busy but we had booked a table online earlier this afternoon and were shown to our table straight away. We were served by Emily who was very friendly and helpful, I had a roast again but was very pleased that the horrible fruity stuffing that my roast came with a couple of weeks ago has gone and replaced by nice stuffing with bacon wrapped around it (so much nicer) Gary and his mum had fish and chips and really enjoyed that, some how we still managed to eat puds as well ļæ½It was really busy again tonight but the service and food was really good and weāll be back again soon ļæ½
Passed by many times but first visit last night. Nearly put off by being told we could have a table as long as we were out within two hours! Food was lovely and waitress was welcoming.
Impromptu meal with wife. Greetedwuicklu on arrival and shown ho as table in a corridor. Met with lovely waitress Rhianna who settled us on a. Ice table by the unlit fire. Waiter came to take drink order and Rhianna took food menu. Starters of pate and prawn / lobster cocktail were good. Both ordered Sirloin steaks which were cooked just right. Overall impression is good but a lit fire on a cold night would have been nice.
Been here multiple times. Canāt fault the food or staff!
I had to order something from the childrenās menu during this visit. Food turns up & I ask if we could have some cutlery for our child to eat with. We were told that you donāt have childrenās cutlery?
Only thing I would suggest is seeing as you have a childrenās menu - provide cutlery too (adult knife & fork for a toddler is just too big for little hands) I understand you canāt cater for all ages but just āchildrenās sizedā knife & fork would be a good idea.
Waited some time for order (chicken & bacon BLT with chips). Staff friendly. Toilets clean. When meal finally arrived disappointment with quality of chips and stingy with amount. The sandwich had a very small piece of bacon which was very fatty. Tomato slices were huge and could have been sliced thinner to make eating the sandwich a more pleasant experience. Very little effort put in the presentation. Weāve received better at other places so wonāt be recommending to others.
Arrived about 18.00hours. Could n't see any staff and were not greeted. Restaurant area fairly busy so a bar staff member eventually offered us a table of our choice in the bar. This was the least hassle for the few staff that were on. Food arrived promptly and was well cooked and to our taste. Left about 19.00hours. And the restaurant didn't seem that busy.
3rd visit...1st was great..2nd we had to remind them we were there... 45mins wait for 3 dinners..but roast ok.
good waiter this time and did not have to wait.
sat near the loos..lots of cleaning fluid does not make clean loos they were grim.We had the dog with us and pub busy.. this area not decorated for Christmas.
food below average..tripled cooked chips were actually over cooked as were the new potatoes microwaved and spoilt..more mash than fish in the fish cake ..pud was good.
This was a revisit after around 1 year absence after being very disappointed with the service and the food quality. I have now made a firm desicion that I will in fact not return and spend my hard earned money in this establishment. The service was non existent and the food was poor. We both had fish and chips with soggy batter and fish which rather than flaked it disintegrated. Not good service was non existent after the initial showing to a table. We will not be back this time we have it the benefit of the doubt after 1 year but I am sad to say no improvement.
Not the friendliest of welcomes. Being refused entry because we were riding scooters. Even though our average age is 50 we were told we may cause trouble.
So we simply went to the St Peters Finger up the road and received a friendly welcome and as with every time we visit a pub we didn't cause trouble.
So a St Peters Finger up to the bakers arms!!
Friendly waitress and lovely place but food was not impressive, half of the food came out cold and over cooked and just not nice, not impressed
Called in to have a pint and some food with the kids. Went to order and told 45+ minute wait. Weird how it's not busy yet still a long delay!
Oh well, another pub will have to do then
Well it seems discriminating against good vintage scooter riding folk is the order of the day in this pretentious establishment, I could understand maybe if it was the savoy but itās not is it ? Clearly you have underestimated just how big and indeed small the scooter scene is, people talk and people talk again.
No need at all for discriminating against hard working folk and good people out for a pleasant ride and a quick beverage you fools.
Friends refused entry last night, for arriving on scooters. This group, and local club, have been enjoying a Thursday night ride to different watering holes around Dorset during the summer months for 12 years. Never turned away, always welcomed, regularly scooters admired by staff and customers alike.
These scooterists are the same people that you may have seen in The Echo taking Easter eggs to the children at DCH, and riding to Weldmar to present a cheque. Obviously, you can see why Bakers Arms wouldnāt want their sort in the place...
Decided to visit mid week when we had an impromptu day off. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. The food here has drastically gone down hill. A starter, of Oven baked Portobello Mushrooms in a mature cheddar sauce, came out black with what cheese was actually on there, cemented to the side of the dish. The chicken pie in mushroom sauce with puff pastry... The pastry was undercooked and slimy, the veg was like rubber!!!! After sending our dinners back, no duty manager came to see what the problems were. Such a shame as this used to be a fab pub. Last two visits, absolutely dire ļæ½
