We went to this place last Saturday. We mentioned we found it difficult to feel me the front door. The door woman said that we wouldn’t regret finding it and she was right. Brilliant atmosphere, good value cocktails and great DJ. We felt like we were on holiday. Rooftop garden is an added bonus. Menu looked good too. Lovely decor inside and out.

We dined here before to the Bryan Ferry concert at the Colston Hall which is dead opposite. We each had the Bams , mine with Lamb & Chicken & my daughters with King Prawn. They were delicious !!! Prices weren’t stupid & if you show your show tickets, they give you a further 20% off. Well impressed great friendly service in a light & airy building with a buzzing atmosphere . Definitely worth a visit .

User

Stunning venue for a bar and love its little quirks .. the BBQ food was so nice and makes a change from the usual burgers and sausages. Very attentive staff and thoughtful touches like a bucket of sun cream for guests make this place stand out

User

Really yummy food in a quirky environment. Very friendly and helpful staff. They do 20% off the bill pre and post events at Colston Hall, also two cocktails for £10 Monday-Friday. Can't wait to go again and check out cocktails on the terrace when the sun eventually decides to make an appearance. 😎🍹

User

Great place to party or just to grab a coffee and a bite to eat.

Outdoor table tennis. Indoor cocktails. Live music.

A great view of the city centre and friendly staff make this place well worth a visit if you're in the area.

User

Food is amazing 😍.. as we were going to the colston hall we got 20% of our bill which was fab....

great atmosphere and very friendly staff.

User

Attended on a Saturday night with friends. The food was excellent, and was served within minutes by the loveliest waitress ever! Perfect quirky Bristol vibe - we will all be back.

User

Amazing salad and a lovely chilled evening with my boyfriend!! Just watching the world go by

User

Absolutely delicious food and wonderful service! Catered for gluten free and were extremely prompt and helpful considering we didn't want to be kate for Jimmy Carr! Waiting staff very friendly and generally lovely to see all staff smiling and happy as they bustled about the place. We will be back (all the way from Wales!). The brunch offer for free kids looks great!

User

This really is a fantastic venue with lovely food .... but they need to employ more staff. Over an hour wait for food and always long queues for drinks ...

User

Had late lunch on Sat 30th June...Staff was very nice...Lunch was also nice had a cocktail with it...Planned to stay the whole afternoon as music just started and the sun was shining but bar queue was far too long so left...would I go back/recommend yes I would.

User

Had a lovely meal last night. Went for the Charcoal Roasted Chicken on flatbread. Delicious!

User

Came for the first time today. Excellent value for money, yummy food, nice venue, quick service and happy to cater to all requests and dietary requirements. Think the discount when you have Colston hall tickets is a lovely touch. Also went out of their way to hide a cake for my sister's birthday and bring it out and got her a vase for her flowers! Special thanks to our lovely waitress who was genuine and even stopped to watch a video of my daughter's performance earlier that day and congratulate her! Sorry I didn't get your name! Only downside chips were too salty (too hungry to care so didn't say anything!)

User

Quite a nice place, unfortunately bar staff really take the piss with the measurements in the cocktail pitchers though. Sugar water for a fairly eye watering price. Probably won’t come back.

User

Food is excellent and waiting staff very attentive and friendly, great little place to eat before a show. Criticisms - for eating early evening ie 6pm the music is ridiculously loud and not very appropriate for the theme of the place, also I ordered the baklava for pudding and it was crammed into a drinking glass - tasted nice but was hard to eat and gradually took on the consistency of crushed insects which isn't very pleasant. I guess if you were to turn out that portion it would be lost on a saucer. Aside from that I will return.

User

Very poor!

Our table of 6 waited over 45mins to make an order. Not even offered drinks before this point. We then all ordered brunch off a very limited menu. Another 25mins later 2 very basic bagels arrived on old battered looking boards. Assuming the other plates of food on the pass was ours we were surprised when another 10mins passed before three more brunches arrived. When asked by a very surly looking waitress 'anything else?' we explained that we were still waiting for a 6th meal. Without a response she went back to the kitchen before returning to tell us they would start cooking it now, no apology, no explanation, nothing....

When asked further to what happened and how long it would be, we were told she 'didn't know how long, waved us away and there was nothing she could do about it!! There was alot of us and the kitchen couldn't keep up!'

As it is an open kitchen one of our party asked the chef how long as everyone else had finished, the chef apologised and explained that the waitress had missed the 6th meal off the order, not that the kitchen couldn't cope. Not surprisingly with very slow service, very rude staff and average basic food none of us will be returning

User

This place is very close to work, so we went there for lunch. Waited for 20 minutes for someone to take our order and then another 30 minutes, before we started asking about our food. One waiter was very rude and said ‘I don’t know’ and the other one said ‘10 minutes’, we waited another 10 minutes and then decided to leave as our lunch break was over. On our way out one of the waitresses gave us a snarky comment. We were baffled by the whole experience. It was a weekday lunch, they had 3 members of staff and only a handful of tables. No reason for the food to take this long and definitely no reason to being so rude. There are plenty of lovely restaurants in Bristol, don’t recommend Bambalan.

User

Sort it out. I came here in bank holiday Sunday and was refused a long island because 'it messes up our stock take' by a guy who then free poured me a rum and coke. I've just come in again and watched a bar maid use a measurer to pour me 2/3 of a shot of rum in a rum and coke. Twice in a row.

User

Menu is quite limited, 5 people out or a party of 8 didn't order food due to the limitations.

The thing that put me off and made me think I will definitely not come back is on the way to the bathroom saw the chef coming out of the bathroom with his apron on. Made me glad that I had not ordered food. Shame as the location and atmosphere of this restaurant is great.
