Banana Tree

Went yesterday with friends . Good food and fantastic service. We had the calamari and papaya salad for starter. Chicken and beef for main. Everything is so good. Thank you for Olga for making the night wonderful. We will be back soon.

This place is amazing, totally unique to any other Indian/Malaysian/Chinese/Thia, loved everything about it, service superb, food is fantastic with extremely wide choice of dishes, superb cocktails and with a really cool vibe about it!!

Highly recommend you try this restaurant, you most certainly will not be disappointed!

Food as amazing as always, with an incredible vegan and vegetarian menu.

Service spot on, thank you olega for such a perfect evening.

Loved it here. I asked advice on the menu because I don’t like too much spice and they recommend the perfect meal for me. Mango Chicken was absolute delicious. Wasn’t too pricey either and two for one cocktails was great. Would definitely go back.

I'm a great lover of this kind of food as I am a Wagamama lover too. ( disappointed it's not coming to Chelmsford ).

Service was good but it was lunch and a little quiet so nothing to complain about. The food was amazingly tasty and I enjoyed it very much as well as my party as we was all trying each other's food!. I can understand what other people are saying about the portion sizes but to me it was sufficient. I had soupy noodles as a main and black rice pudding with coconut ice cream for desert. It was my birthday and they brought out a nice little chocolate pudding dessert with a candle on top for free for my b'day which was a nice touch.

Looking forward to going back then trying other things on the menu

My girls treated me for a meal on Mother's day and we had a lovely evening! Rendang curry was good. My laksa was amazing! We don't recommend the Pho but service was good! Waiters were friendly and courteous (apart from head waitress/managers off reaction when asked but still assisted). We didn't mind the food coming on different times as it wasn't long from the other. They forgot to give me my takeaway or I forgot to ask when we left but we will come back again as they gave me free dessert! �

Just been in there tonight it was really nice the staff give you time to choose your meal whilst arriving early enough so you can order a drink and have a casual drink whilst choosing your meal. We ordered both starters and main the starters arrived after about 15 mins which was nice and hot and once finished the main arrived again after about 15 mins. The staff and the food was spot on and would highly recommend the only downside for me which is why i gave 4☆ and not 5☆ was no special board and a lack of choice over deserts but that's me being fussy.

Wonderful food good service but toilets out of order had to go to turtle bay for a wee ran out of draugh beer not sure if there going to survive

The food was nice although fairly expensive for what it was / portion size. The service was poor, very slow and we picked a quiet time to go on purpose. Seems only 3 of the staff could take orders / get bills and all the others are just servers (although nobody explained this so when we tried to get a server to help & she just ran off it didn't really do them any favours). On top of that one of the people who could take orders was also seating people.

One lovely Asian lady was very on the ball & sorted us out as we were about to walk out but then sadly she went on her break, so we were down to two or could take orders & slow & unsatisfactory service.

Food was ok , a bit expensive . The service was not good at all,from having my food dropped on table to drinks not turning up so don’t think I’ll rush back

Food was pretty good but service mess up made it a loooong wait. Not up to the normal standard and for a lunch time service very disappointed.

Went in Saturday night and not all tables where full. The food was fine ( when it turned up at different times) but the service was the worst I have had for a long time, I’m sorry to say! Very slow on food and drink. Head waitress ignored us when passing and we tried to ask her something several times. The waiter was very sorry that it was all coming out late ( food and drink) but got to the point we had, had enough of apologies continuously. We just wanted a nice meal and drink while we had a uninterrupted conversation. Very expensive for not so relaxed meal out. I would not recommend! But a positive - my sister went at lunch and said she loved it, so may be just a lunch time place to go?!?? X

Used to enjoy the food from Banana Tree - was thrilled when a branch opened in Chelmsford having enjoyed the Clapham Junction branch for many years.



However, having ordered tonight we were annoyed to discover that most of the prawn and chicken in our soups and much of the aubergine in Tamarind Spicy Aubergine dish had been substituted for tofu! Great way to increase your margins Banana Tree and to annoy customers. Chelmsford restaurant said they were following HQ spec and became defensive, not understanding why this is an issue.



Ended up having to call Deliveroo for a refund (they were brilliant - shame about Banana Tree).
