Members of our Trumpet section are taking part in Movember this year.
Movember is an annual event, involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November, to raise both awareness and money to help combat men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.
Which is your favourite!?

‘Scarlet & Gold’ will dazzle and delight, banishing winter’s gloom with a musical spectacle from Britain’s finest military musicians. Musicians from the world-renowned bands of the Household Cavalry, Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Irish Guards, Welsh Guards, and the Countess of Wessex’s String Orchestra, will unite at Cadogan Hall, London, for their annual showcase concert on 28th and 29th of November 2018.
This year’s programme is unashamedly patriotic a...nd will appeal to all ages. With music inspired by the British Isles, and performances compered by Downton Abbey’s historical advisor and Royal Correspondent Alastair Bruce, prepare to be immersed in the very best of British history and culture, sparkling wit and humour.
Amid a packed programme of the fantastic and familiar, will be a new commission for the Household Division Saxophone Quartet by world-famous composer, Adam Gorb, and the best of the best - the 2018 winner of the Household Division Musician of the Year Competition, Musician Katie Davies, who will star in a virtuoso performance. William Walton’s “Spitfire Prelude and Fugue” will mark the 100th year anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force, and his “Crown Imperial” will set a rousing regal finale.
The title, ‘Scarlet & Gold,’ evokes the ceremonial splendour and sparkle of the Guards’ uniforms and instruments which, when combined with the beautiful setting of Cadogan Hall, promises an outstanding evening of musical pomp and grandeur. Union Flag waving is optional, but our loyal and talented soldiers will ensure that, whichever night you choose to join us, raised spirits and a warm glow are guaranteed; after all, it’s “Scarlet and Gold”!

This morning the band will be providing musical support to 'Changing the Guard' at Buckingham Palace. Here's a picture of the band before we changed into greatcoats, when it was a bit warmer! Photo courtesy of Philip Bisset.

The ladies of the band would like to wish everyone a happy International Men’s Day. To mark the occasion, we celebrated the achievements of the men of the band with a small awards ceremony.

We have been honoured today with a visit by our Regimental Colonel, HRH The Duke of York.
We performed a brand new march for him, “Twice The Man”, composed by our principal tuba player, Lance Sergeant Shepherd. HRH The Duke of York was presented with a framed copy of the march by the composer, and chatted to members of the band.
Watch this space to hear more about this march in a few months time.

As we prepare for a very special Cenotaph Parade this morning, commemorating 100 years since the end of World War I and the signing of the armistice treaty, we honour all those who have died in wars.
On 11th November 1918, hundreds of men, women and children gathered outside Buckingham Palace, celebrating the end of the war. Pictured here, amongst our archives, the band can be seen in the centre of the palace forecourt, playing to the royal family on the balcony and the jubi...lant crowds behind.

We have had another busy day, this time playing for the England vs South Africa autumn internationals, at Twickenham.
The band marched the England team coach into the stadium area, before playing each national anthem, “Jerusalem” and “Mission Impossible”, complete with singers, pyrotechnics and abseilers from the Royal Marines Commandos, to open the game.
Amongst our band members, Lance Corporal Venter originates from South Africa, and enjoyed mingling with some of the fans....

The band have been in Winchester this morning, providing musical support to the recruits passing out of Phase 1 training. A memorable day for them and their families at the start of their army careers.
It is also significant for two members of the band: For our Assistant Bandmaster, Colour Sergeant Brown, it was his first time conducting this band on a Pass Out Parade.
For our principal clarinettist, Lance Corporal Wong, it was five years ago on this day that he passed out ...of Phase 1 training himself at Winchester, on 2nd November 2013.
Congratulations to everyone who passed out as soldiers in the British Army today!

The band has had a great day entertaining commuters and tourists passing through London Waterloo, in aid of London Poppy Day, alongside Royal British Legion.
We hope you all enjoyed some unexpected music to brighten up your day, for a good cause.
If you didn’t catch us, hopefully you saw some of our many colleagues performing at train stations across the city today! (Band of the Coldstream Guards, Band of the Scots Guards, Band of the Welsh Guards, and The Band of The Parac...hute Regiment).
