Bang & Olufsen of Lincoln are suppliers of high-end televisions, sound systems and speaker solutions.

Bang & Olufsen of Lincoln was established in 1982, born out of the Sykes Video Links group of companies, founded by Geoff Sykes in 1969.

We quickly established ourselves as one of the UK’s premiere Bang & Olufsen retailers, and have subsequently added further stores in Sheffield and Leicester, for which Lincoln serves as group administration center and head office.

Managing director Gavin Sykes recalls how the story began, back in 1982…
“I was eighteen years old, can you believe that? Anyway there was me, my Dad and Nick Hayes (now a Director of the company), selling and installing televisions, working all the hours God sent. Then we had a guy join us who had sold Bang & Olufsen before. He persuaded us to give it a go, though to be honest we weren’t sure whether we would do any good with it. We thought it might be a little too expensive for Lincolnshire. ”

And?

“And it just took off, immediately. Our customers loved it and so did we, right from the start. Everything worked, everything was well engineered, it was just…perfect”.
Gavin has spent almost all his adult life with Bang & Olufsen. The world is a very different place today to that of 1982…

“Yes, it’s a completely different place, but at the rudiments of the business haven’t changed at all. My staff are still passionate about what they do, and care about the brand. If they’re not they don’t work here, as simple as that. We’re Bang & Olufsen – we have a responsibility to be the best…”
