University of Manchester's Bangladesh Society is one of the largest Bangladeshi student bodies in the UK. It is an integral part of the University of Manchester Students' Union (UMSU). Dedicated to the students of the University of Manchester, it is active in promoting Bangladeshi cultural heritage in the UK and building cultural bridges with other groups of students from all over the world. Bangladesh Society was established in 1958 as an association of Bangla speaking students and got its present name after Bangladesh emerged as an independent country in 1971. Our Present: At present, Bangladesh Society is one of the most vibrant and dynamic societies to be part of UMSU. If you talk to any student from the University of Manchester, you will no doubt be aware of the range of vibrant and active societies that UMSU have, and Bangladesh Society is right up there with the best.
