For the money per month this place is not the best. Mr Bannatyne must be having a jolly old time spending it on him self rather then his health clubs

This gym is not a practical gym for the amount of people.

To enter the gym they have now changed from a personal PIN number to using wrist bands which are a pain! You continuously forget to wear it or bring it with you.
These wristbands also lock and unlock the lockers which makes remembering which locker is yours difficult because they no long have locker numbers.

top quality new equipment however it is a basic variety and in very limited in quantity.

For compound moves there's -
- 2 squat racks and It's often very hard to get in to use one!
- ONE bench to do bench press on! Very hard to get on this equipment without someone stand over you waiting or someone constantly ask how many more sets you have.
- 5 top of the range benches which can be wheeled around. People often put them in the squat racks or smith machine to make a bench. At peak times getting a bench is a nightmare
- no set place to do deadlifts, you've got to get a bar, find a spot and ignore the fact you are in the way.

Other equipment includes -
- 1 lat pull down
- 1 rower
- 1 leg curl machine
- 1 leg extension machine
- 1 leg press
- 1 T bar
- Pull up / dip assistant machine
- 3 variety of chest machine
- 2 varieties of shoulder machines
- Dumbbells up to 50kg

Due to there only being one of everything you find yourself becoming annoyed when people take unnecessary lengths of time on equipment or stand talking but are 'apparently' using it or when people use their phones on the equipment!

With the weight area small having 10 people in there makes it crowded. There is no real place to find a quiet area to do core exercises, which is a shame. It is possible to go into one of the two the studios for more room however you often find classes are on and the second studio is full of spinning bikes

There is plenty of top quality cardio equipment. The treadmills, bikes, cross trainers never seem overly full except for the stair masters which are very popular.

Classes also seem to be very popular however one circuit class is run on the gym floor around the equipment and as soon as you walk into the gym area you bump into them. Every time you enter or leave you have to navigate around them which is awkward and you often get awful stares because you've had to interrupt someone to get past. Not the best thought out idea from the class instructors.

personal trainers / instructors teach clients very bad form when preforming exercises. One particular incident was an elderly woman around 70 preforming a deadlift/ stiff leg deadlift during a circuit class and her back was completed rounded and she was using her back to pull the weight up instead of her legs. The instructor didn't correct her instead he told her 'great job'!!! No one at any age should preform this particular compound move with incorrect form! Very shocking

Cleanliness of the gym is a huge issue. With it being brand new equipment and flooring you'd expect it to be well taken care of and inspected daily. However the stair masters show very often they haven't been wiped down in a while due to sweat stains on them! The weight room floor often needs a hoover and general tidy up every night. No excuse from staff as there is often plenty of them around chatting.

Obviously peak times are extremely busy however I've found any time of the day seems to be busy.

changing rooms, pool, saunas, steam room and jacuzzis I can't seem to fault. They are clean and tidy, just how they should be but they can also get very crowded especially the pool.

The spa treatments, sun beds, salon all seem of a lovely standard. The ease of having them all under one roof is a time saver mind.

So if you are looking for everything in one place £40 is worth it. If you are just looking for a gym and pool it's not worth it.
I regret to say but I definitely wouldn't recommend this gym.

Clean and up to date equipment and a really nice spa area with two saunas, steam rooms and jacuzzis surrounding a swimming pool

I enjoyed the gym until the refurb, now there's hardly any space to do free weights or to work on your core, they've just filled the place with cardio machines. I tend to go during the off-peak hours but even then you struggle for space; I don't want to go to the gym to wait around for other people to finish. I've now cancelled my membership
Everything else is fine, classes are good, customer service not great

User

Amenities are plentiful but the Jacuzzis are often not operating to their fullest extent.
New Management a year or so ago were found to be unhelpful and evasive which is my main reason for terminating my membership here.
Wouldn't consider going back without appropriate changes.

Good amount of cardio and resistance equipment, although it could do with more resistance machines and less cardio as there is quite often a lot of cardio machines sitting empty. Clean, new changing rooms with lockers, showers and hairdryers
