Went to Banquet last week, had an excellent meal, get there for the best Chinese in Colchester.

We visited Banquet 1408 after hearing good things about it and we were not disappointed! Everything was beautifully cooked and the service was fantastic. Think we’ve found our new favourite restaurant! Will definitely be back for more.

We had a lovely meal at Banquet and thought the staff were so attentive and the food absolutely delicious. The prawn dim sum in particular was amazing and all very reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back!

The best Chinese restaurant in the area by far - fantastic dim sum. When you go to a place and halve the patrons are Chinese you know you’re in the right place!

It was our first time at Banquet and it won’t be the last.

We went with friends and the staff really looked after us from the start. We asked for recommendations and tried dishes that we would have not normally picked. We were not disappointed, the food was fantastic, full of flavour and the portions were very generous.

Tried the honey beer which was also a hit!

Had lunch here on Sunday 18th March 2018. We really enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. When you see a large number of Chinese guests eating in the restaurant you know it is good. would have liked a finger bowl after eating my crispy duck. We will be back soon. BnB.

Food of a pretty good standard although some bits were a little uninspiring.

Biggest gripe would be they all need to smile as this would make all the difference.All in all not to bad a meal but we have had better.

I've been here untold times... up to now I couldn't fault the place.. but service is extremely poor, they have either a new steamed dim sum chef or they have changed supplier mine was different and disgusting my cheung fun was cold also Sui mai which I've eaten since I was 4 was nothing like I've ever tasted before and wouldn't want to again here !!! London it will be from now on....

Utterly ruined our favourite Chinese restaurant. Every single dish has been altered and none for the better. Your new head chef is woeful. Could not believe quite how dramatically the quality has deteriorated since the new owners took over. It wasn’t “broke” so you didn’t need to “fix” it.

I used to love Banquet 1408 but after going yesterday after the change of ownership I was very very disappointed with the food as it tasted totally different from before - unfortunately wont be going back - what a shame.
