Barbon Inn

Really nice location. Just under 4 miles to Kirkby Lonsdale. Rooms comfortable - a bit small and not very soundproof. Food appears to be hit and miss. Excellent Steak and Ale pies with delicious home made chips but disappointing Chicken and chorizo in bland tomatoe sauce (only one piece of chorizo!) Breakfast was ok. Staff seem a bit uncoordinated and don't seem to know what they are doing, no checking back on your experience or quality of food. Overall not the worst experience but could have been a lot better!

We went for a meal to celebrate our anniversary. The last time was 40 years ago. Gail from corrie was there! The food was delicious although I didn't get the chicken dish I ordered from the menu but the one off the specials board. Didn't realise till I was half way through but it was ok so I didn't mind. Also didn't notice I had been charged the menu price which was two quid more than what I actually had. Not quite sure what was going on as it looked like it had happened to someone else with the same dish!

I stayed two nights at the barbon Inn, they have lovely rooms with free wi-fi, serve good food in the evening and provide a nice breakfast. Gorgeous location with lots of nice walks to go on.

Inn full of character and charm. Food was excellent. Staff: young, helpful and attentive. Especially Abby, David, Fabian and the lovely young chef who looked after us on last night. Fabulous setting.

This place is just what we needed to get away from all the hustle bustle of home life and work.
The staff are so friendly and attentive and nothing is to much trouble. The food is fabulous at a very reasonable price and the bar is the same.
Will definitely be back here in the future and will recommend to all my friends.

Charming place, lovely setting, food is absolutely beautiful and staff are really nice and always helpful. We are enjoying our stay immensely. Would not hesitate to return and recommend to friends and family.. 😊

Had a great time here. Lovely inn, bar has a lot of character and good food on offer. Ideally located for Yorkshire dales and the lakes so there is plenty to do within a short drive. Also some great hikes nearby. Would stay again.

Fantastic food and helpful staff. Atmosphere in the pub was good and excellent wine listings. First room we were shown was very worn and disapointing but asked to change and second room was a slight improvement.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food (roast dinner) was ok but not stellar quality. Sadly the local beer I had did not taste good and I couldn't have had more than 1 pint. I was doubly disappointed as the landlord came outside and encouraged me to come in by mentioning that they were offering Sunday roasts, including lamb, in addition to menu I'd been browsing outside the door. I said I'd take a drive up to Dent and then return, which I did. When I arrived I was given a more limited menu than the one I'd seen outside. In light of this I ordered lamb but was told the choices were limited to beef or pork. Having opted for pork instead, I realised that a couple on the next table who arrived after us ordered a fish pie I'd rather have had from a specials board that I'd not seen and that hadn't been brought to my attention. Not a huge thing but it is little things that all detract. There are a lot of places competing for your business in the local area and others are probably worth checking out over this.
