I recently went in to a local branch to deposit money into my account to find that only one self service machines was working and two members of staff behind a counter and a line of customers waiting. The gentleman behind me went to the counter and was served I did the same due to having my baby with me and one of the cashiers said she was unable to serve me due to there being a line because she needed to serve the customers waiting before she could serve me. No one in the line had moved for at least 20 minutes which is why I decided to use the counter rather than waiting for the only self service machine. I found the member of staff to be very abrupt, she assumed I was at the back of the line when I'd actually already been queuing for 20 minutes before approaching the counter.
I've been a customer with this bank for almost 30 years but the customer service I received today was appalling. It's about time to switch banks.

Can't even get an appointment. Managed to make it past the automated phone line asking for my account details (don't have any as I'm TRYING to be a new customer) only to be put through to what I'm assuming is a call centre in India. The person had no idea about places or areas in the UK and was asking questions about something I've already answered. I'm trying to get an appointment at my local branch (this one) and the person is telling me there are multiple branches showing up on the screen all around Staffordshire.. ......
That's great but I'd appreciate you looking at my local one. We eventually locate it after I have to give him the number, address and postcode of the branch! In the end im told ill have to wait a few weeks for an appointment. I said just forget it, I'll go somewhere else.

Looks like I'm not the only one having setting up a power of attorney with Barclays. what a difficult organisation to deal with. I certainly won't be opening an account of my own with them.

Every time I come to this bank as a business customer I am forced to queue up at the TWO 'business' counters whilst people with personal banking issues are served. They have got rid of all the other counters and replaced them with machines, 50% of prople don't know how to use them so end up in the business banking queue. Wait times are poor everytime. What's worse is that there is always at least three or four staff or 'digital eagles' stood around doing nothing. It's not the staffs fault....just a poor setup from a customers perspective.

I am not a Barclay's customer but tried to contact Barclay's in Hanley to make an appointment to arrange power of attorney for my parents. A customer advisor at their central call centre tells me no appoinment for a month! He says I could go to another branch and asks me which is the nearest, I tell him as I am not a customer I don't know and as he works for Barclays doesn't he know. He asks me for the post code of the Hanley branch, again I tell him as I am not a customer I don't know and as he works for Barclays doesn't he know. He asks can I put you on hold for just 1 minute, 10 minutes later still on hold so I decide to write a review about the rubbish service and obvious attempt to fleece me on their 0345 number and will be making a formal complaint to Barclays.
