Attractive mid-Victorian (1870’s) jewellery box with a sprung drawer to the side. The box is veneered in burr walnut and extensively inlaid with boxwood , ebony and tulipwood banding. The cartouche and escutcheon are mother of pearl with further lines of parquetry inlay. The drawer is retained with a brass pin and can only be opened when the box is unlocked. The interior has been relined using silk and paper and a lift out tray is provided. There is a ruched silk panel to the lid. The box retain the original working key.
