If the English sunshine isn't enough to entice you out and about, we have a countryside walk that'll take you on a trail of some of the most stunning views of Pendle Hill and the surrounding countryside.
This 10.5km walk across rugged moorland will ensure you and the family make the most of the summer.

What a lovely place and setting along with exquisite food and the friendliest staff you could ask for. Emma, Holly, Ben and Robin provided a personal and attentive service for the whole stay. We arrived to eat lunch yesterday before going walking, had dinner in the restaurant afterwards and have just finished our breakfast now! Beautiful food - compliments to the chef! The rooms are cosy and clean and because the bar isn’t open too late the noise died down at a reasonable hour. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

We have visited the Barley Mow for lunch on a few occasions and have enjoyed.

Last evening was a lovely surprise for valentines from my husband .. I was so excited when we pulled up outside as I really did not know where we were going .

On checking in we were shown to our Room 5 .Basic double room which was no problem, but was freezing as the radiator was switched off . ( hardly a welcome there! ) considering the outside temperatures were freezing !

My husband had booked the Valentines special which included a bottle of proscecco. He had spoken to the hotel the day before to let them know our ETA . No proscecco in the room ! Hardly any toilet roll

In bathroom too !!!

We had a drink in our room from the bar whilst changing for dinner .

When we went down to the restaurant after a couple of drinks and nipples we were shown to our table .

We offered the proscecco with dinner which wasn't really our taste as would have preferred pre dinner .

My husband chose a really nice wine from the wine rack which wasn't in the wine menu .

The bar manager gave us a price which was fine .

As we didn't have the Proscecco he said he would include the wine instead . We were happy with this .

On to dinner .

We both chose from the valentines menu our mains .

I chose streak scewers and my husband chose the lobster .

Food arrived . Mine was cold so sent it back . It arrived back via a microwave which meant the rice was dry and crispy and the steak was uneatable !

The lobster wasn't much better but eatable!

Apologies were given by the bar manager and u chose another dish but obviously my husband had finished his meal by the time my arrived .

Thanks s experience was hardly a valentines special .

The dining was empty so they couldn't use being busy as a excuse .

The atmosphere has hardly romantic as the place was cold even though fires on .

The manager again was full of apologies and said that we would not be charged for my meal or the wine .

Next morning my husband went to settle our bill .

No reduction given at all .

Paid full amount and didn't even get our included proscecco!

Will not be gong back to the Barley Mow again !

Lovely sunny, busy day so understandable some things had sold out. Finally decided what to have after seeing a gentleman's meal on the next table. He had fish on lovely thick cut bead. Mine came on standard sliced bread, as it was so thin it went soggy and fell apart almost impossible to eat like a sandwich. Partners meal was amazing. Will give it another try on a less busy day.

User

I attended with a large family group and we ordered in advance - being a seafood company l ordered the fish pie which was very nice although a small portion with nothing on the side- would have expected some potatoes or peas etc as there wasn’t any on top of the pie. We ordered some chips.

My mum had the cheese and onion pie and it was just crust with very overdone cheese inside and very disappointing, the waitress fed this back and she was offered a complimentary pudding, however the pie should have been deducted from the bill in my opinion.

It was very obvious at 10.30 the staff wanted us to leave even though two of the Party were guests.

The venue itself is lovely and the attention to detail is excellent however the menu not so great!
