MIKE HAWTHORN 60TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT – ALL invited!
Earlier this summer, The Barley Mow Tilford hosted an excellent press event to launch the 60th anniversary celebration of Mike Hawthorn being crowned first British Formula One world champion. The anniversary event itself is now fast approaching… and it’ll be held in his hometown, FARNHAM, this SUNDAY 14th OCTOBER!
Head on down to Farnham town centre on Sunday afternoon to watch a spectacular classic car parade. There’ll be a... succession of stunning cars that Mike would have known: a few of his own racing machines, plus the model of Jaguar with which he won Le Mans! There will also be a celebratory service held in Farnham Parish Church in honour of the legendary winner.
A fantastic event not to be missed!

The evening is a black tie event that will include a superb regimental dinner and exceptional wines (chosen by our Wine Club guru, Nina Cerullo!) typically consumed by the more well-to-do set who lived during the WW1 period. We are honored that our guest speaker is Richard Quirk, the most senior non-commissioned officer in Her Majesty’s Royal Marines!

With stories of bravery and loss from the Great War, from two of the UK’s highest ranking current and former military and intelligence experts, this will be an evening of a lifetime. Mark Scoular, who leads national policing in terrorism and counter terrorism will MC, while Richa...rd Quirk, formerly of the Royal Marines (and its most senior non-commissioned officer) will bring the past to life.

It's fish night here on Saturday 29th, but it's not like any other fish night! We have mouth-watering fish, freshly caught and hand picked by our fishmonger on the harbour at Newhaven. Does any of this catch your fancy? Come and sea what all the fuss is about :)

we called in about 14.30 yesterday after walking the three crazy dogs, and although the kitchen had closed they opened it again and made a really good chicken salad, and prawn bagett for us. Fabulously friendly pub xxx

We spent the whole evening here for New Year's Eve and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The management and staff cannot do enough for you and we only wish we lived nearer so we could visit more often.

We made a last minute decision to have Sunday lunch here. A bit of a wait as they were so busy but well worth it.

We had a sharing seafood platter that was just so tasty and fresh. Can't wait for BBQ' to start up on Saturdays

Thank you to the Barley Mow for hosting parents and kids post tobogganing coffee and got chocolate today. 15 toddlers not the normally Friday morning crowd. ���

Since the new management and staff have taken over, this pub has returned to how a country pub should be. Sunday roast was really excellent . Staff very friendly and great service. Village cricket green opposite the pub and River flowing past the beer garden at the back. You couldn't ask for a better location.

Lovely, friendly pub but tends to get over-run on hot weekends when there's a home cricket match. Great food. NB. Don't park your car around the green when there's a cricket match #cardamage!

Great pub to just chill with a beer, watch the cricket on the green and let the world go by..........

Great lunch yesterday, highly recommend Gin and Prosecco cocktails. Thank you to staff for a lovely few hours and ti Chris who came and collected Marie Claire, Barnaby, Freddie and me. Xx

Fantastic 30th Birthday party for my son at The Barley Mow last night. The food was amazing and massive thanks to Debbie, Kim and all the staff for all of their help and hard work. We are lucky to have such a great local pub.

Fabulous pub, trustworthy staff and clientele,My partner dropped his wallet, a very honourable man handed it in to the bar intact of all its money. Thank you, thank you, whoever you are.

Fab food, great pub. My husband was in heaven with his seafood platter �

Excellent food, service was good, they let us know that there would be a wait for food service, however this was only 20-25 mins. Food was piping hot and delicious.

Called in for a mid week treat. Friendly pub with tasty food.

Booked quite late for a planned pub lunch midway through a long/cold country walk. Very welcoming, staff were all great and food was of good quality (particularly the desserts). Will definitely be visiting again.
