About Barley Mow

Quintessential English country pub in the beautiful Surrey village of Tilford.

Barley Mow Description

The Barley Mow in Tilford is the quintessential English country pub. Warm and welcoming, we serve a fine selection of real ales alongside an excellent wine list. Our resident chef creates seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients; the perfect spot for lunch or dinner.

Set in the Surrey Hills, our traditional establishment is reputedly the most photographed English country pub in the world! Overlooking the picturesque Tilford Green, we boast a large riverside garden with views over adjoining fields and woodlands. There is also a cosy heated outdoor snug – complete with woolly blankets and a smartphone dock to play your own music!

A wonderful destination pub – especially for cyclists, motor clubs and ramblers – we are family and dog friendly. We host regular events including wine tastings, a pub quiz and themed dining events. Plus, our freshly brewed coffee and infamous home-made shortbread are to die for…

MIKE HAWTHORN 60TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT – ALL invited!
Earlier this summer, The Barley Mow Tilford hosted an excellent press event to launch the 60th anniversary celebration of Mike Hawthorn being crowned first British Formula One world champion. The anniversary event itself is now fast approaching… and it’ll be held in his hometown, FARNHAM, this SUNDAY 14th OCTOBER!
Head on down to Farnham town centre on Sunday afternoon to watch a spectacular classic car parade. There’ll be a... succession of stunning cars that Mike would have known: a few of his own racing machines, plus the model of Jaguar with which he won Le Mans! There will also be a celebratory service held in Farnham Parish Church in honour of the legendary winner.
A fantastic event not to be missed!

Hallowe'en is upon us so join us for a wicked evening on October 31st with our freaky themed dinner menu - it's ghoulishly good! We know our manager, Debs, has a few spooky pub stories to tell about Silver Billy, the Barley Mow's legendary crickting landlord back in the Nineteenth century! MUAHAHA

we called in about 14.30 yesterday after walking the three crazy dogs, and although the kitchen had closed they opened it again and made a really good chicken salad, and prawn bagett for us. Fabulously friendly pub xxx

User

We spent the whole evening here for New Year's Eve and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The management and staff cannot do enough for you and we only wish we lived nearer so we could visit more often.

User

We made a last minute decision to have Sunday lunch here. A bit of a wait as they were so busy but well worth it.

User

We had a sharing seafood platter that was just so tasty and fresh. Can't wait for BBQ' to start up on Saturdays

User

Thank you to the Barley Mow for hosting parents and kids post tobogganing coffee and got chocolate today. 15 toddlers not the normally Friday morning crowd.

User

Since the new management and staff have taken over, this pub has returned to how a country pub should be. Sunday roast was really excellent . Staff very friendly and great service. Village cricket green opposite the pub and River flowing past the beer garden at the back. You couldn't ask for a better location.

User

Lovely, friendly pub but tends to get over-run on hot weekends when there's a home cricket match. Great food. NB. Don't park your car around the green when there's a cricket match #cardamage!

User

Great pub to just chill with a beer, watch the cricket on the green and let the world go by..........

User

Great lunch yesterday, highly recommend Gin and Prosecco cocktails. Thank you to staff for a lovely few hours and ti Chris who came and collected Marie Claire, Barnaby, Freddie and me. Xx

User

Great food and great service xxx

Excellent food, service was good, they let us know that there would be a wait for food service, however this was only 20-25 mins. Food was piping hot and delicious.

User

Called in for a mid week treat. Friendly pub with tasty food.

User

Booked quite late for a planned pub lunch midway through a long/cold country walk. Very welcoming, staff were all great and food was of good quality (particularly the desserts). Will definitely be visiting again.
