Barnsley Hospital

Just had my daughter here n the staff were absolutely brilliant

Unfortunately had to use the emergency pediatrician service during the night with my 6 months old. At 4am I was the only patient there, had a chance to hear many jokes, nice flirting but no help or interest of my sick child. Avoid if you only can!

I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the surgeons, doctors and nurses on the children's ward (8) for looking after my son Ryan and making us feel so comfortable.

Never had a bad experience here not once... Had 2 children here the staff are amazing. In the women's services everything is immaculate the labour suites are massive and gorgeous. The accident and emergency is quick and has its own pediatric accident and emergency which is fantastic, with colouring and toys galore. The cafe is great and reasonably priced unlike the WH Smiths but I can say thats a given at any hospital.

Having stayed in Barnsley Hospital several times since the mid 70s I have seen the changes over that period. On some occasions the levels had dropped, but I can gladly say any fears of staying in the hospital now are gone. From the ambulance staff, porters,nurses, doctors and consultants I must give them all a 5* rating. I have been on several 5 day trips but this one although not pre booked was one of the best. I could not have had any better or thorough treatment, and to see all the work the staff have to do it is of great credit to them. I will have to return in a few weeks but I have no fears at all. Thank you to all at the Barnsley Hospital

OUTSTANDING HOSPITAL
My son was born by prematurely via emergency Caesarian-section & the care we both received was brilliant.
My recent hysterectomy has again been amazing. Caring staff & fantastic consultant.
I can't rate highly enough.

My review does not reflect against nurses , cleaners or anybody who is dealing with patients all the time (the workers) they do a brilliant job. Mainly the rubbish doctors, consultants, managers and anyone behind a desk. USELESS.

Brilliant experience there having our new baby boy. We were looked after by Lisa Smith who was there all the way through. Michelle Young helped out as well and both were fantastic. The new birthing suites are also a big improvement. Thank you

It's not bad but there is also room for improvement. However when I was there today waiting times weren't that bad and the staff were polite and helpful.

Gave birth to my daughter here, everyone were so caring and I had the best service I could ever have.
But when a year later I needed and appointment for my daughter with pediatric I had to wait for 3 months to get one,..

Went to barnsley hospital about 6 weeks ago found out I got a hernia. Gave all my information and was told I would receive a letter in the post with an appointment on for a date for the operation. Rang up today to chase the letter and they have no record on there system of me been there!!!

After trying to get throught to the orthopaedic clinic for 3 wks and no joy, i had to make a complaint to "Pals" who came bk to me and said they were sorry but the phone was in a closed down office,...Forward 2 months post op and today i tried to get in touch with Barnsley hospital reception bookings after 2 20-25 minute calls and nobody answering i had to go through "pals" again to get the clinic to call me, Which they did, I know Barnsley is behind the times but barnsley hospital is still in victoriana,
I have now told my gp that any further hospital treatment must be carried out at another hospital NOT bdgh...
