Seen that there is again a warning going out across the UK, re 'alabama rot'. This is a condition that can affect all dogs through affecting the blood vessels and causes skin lesions, initially, on the limbs of dogs, but can lead to potentially fatal renal failure. The condition was first reported in 2012, however, so far, it is a rare condition and the cause is currently not known. There have been confirmed cases across the majority of the UK, APART from the area between ...Nottingham, Leicester, Northampton, Milton keynes and the east coast. So far, there have been no confirmed cases in this particular area. If you do find that your dog has developed sores without any particular cause, do be aware but don't panic. If in doubt, contact your vet. There are other things that can cause similar issues but it helps to be vigilant. Here is a link to some additional information about the condition:

Brrrrrr, quite cold out lately but, as long as its not sleet and windy, its ok. The birds are singing like spring is round the corner, I do hope they are right! The pooches all seem to enjoy the walk just as much, so that makes it all worth it We've just aquired a new piece of kit that will hopefully bring you some unique views of our walks.. Looking forward to posting a walk from a dog's perspective soon!

We also offer pet care for the less commonly kept pets, such as reptiles, snakes, spiders and amphibians. Any live or frozen feeds that need to be given are not a problem. Both Ellen and I have experience of looking after a range of species with less or more than 4 legs! We realise this is not a common thing people offer or look for so, if you know of anyone that may need this service, please pass on our details.. πŸ¦ŽπŸ’πŸ πŸ¦‚πŸ•·οΈ

We get booked up pretty quickly for the summer hols, but we still have some spaces available for home boarding in the beginning of august, between the 2nd and the 10th. If you are thinking of going away during those dates and would like your dog to be looked after in a home setting, socialising with other dogs and getting excercise in the countryside on pack walks, or if you need your small pets or cats looking after, please get in touch! We would love to welcome your dog to come stay with us or look after your other pets. For enquiries, please send me a message through FB or text 07950 64035 Stef

Hi all, Ellen and I are hoping to put on some exciting and different dog training classes, starting september. We would love to hear from you, if you would be interested in joining us on any of the following:
An introduction to scent work (Actively guide your dog to distinguish a specific scent and be able to work as a team to find the source of the scent in a room, person or vehicle search)
A 'young dog handler' certificate. This will be a short course, aimed at children... between the age of 7 and 12, which will teach them to correctly identify body language and behaviour. when it is most effective to give a command, how to get the dog's attention, how to be safe around unfamiliar dogs and teaching safe and appropriate handling techniques with their own dog. We will also aim to give them a better understanding to reward based training, focusing on timing and body language in a fun way, using simple commands like sit and stay.
Please do get in touch if you are interested in joining us for these courses, I look forward to hearing from you, more info to follow...

We will have spaces available for dogs to come along and enjoy a pack walk with us, starting this July. The walk will have anywhere from 3 to 7 dogs, depending on group composition and the walks will be lead by, either Ellen, or myself.
We offer a 60 minute walk between 11-12 or a 30 minute walk between 1-2.
During hot weather these times may be moved back an hour, to avoid overheating the dogs during the hottest part of the day. We do make sure that walks on hot days are e...ither near water or mostly covered.
Our aim is to ensure your dog has a good walk and has a positive social experience with the other dogs on the walk.
We walk in safe areas, away from roads, livestock and fields being actively worked by farmers.
If you would like to know more, please text me: 07950640357 or email: stefanieband78@gmail.com
Ellen and I look forward to hearing from you and meeting your dogs!

Just our luck, dry all morning for pick ups, then get to the walk, only to be drenched for an hour solid! Good thing the pooches didn't mind and then happily went for a dip in the pond.. May as well, already soaking!

Barnwell dogs has a new addition to the team! I'm delighted to tell you that Ellen has joined us as a walker, pet carer and house sitter. She has gained skills and experience as a dog handler in the army, working with and being responsible for the care of search and protection dogs and has worked with these dogs in active duty. I am really happy that she has come to join Barnwell dogs with, not only her knowledge and skills, but also a great love of dogs and all other animals. Having worked with her this week, I can see the dogs and cats she has met this week, respond really well to her and I look forward to us delivering a top service to all our lovely dogs and other pets!
