Schedule now for treatments to prevent caterpillar damage
Spring is when many tree pests become active. Defoliating insects like box tree caterpillar will be hatching and begin feeding on leaves and new growth. The defoliation resulting from an infestation is unsightly and can limit a tree's ability to grow and thrive. Repeated years of defoliation can be particularly damaging to trees and shrubs. With that in mind, we have already begun scheduling treatments to manage outbr...eaks and minimize the damage caused by caterpillars when they feed on new tree buds and leaves.
Given the prevalence of caterpillars in our area, we recommend an inspection in spring to assess your trees for signs of an infestation. When pests are present, early detection is important to effectively prevent an outbreak.
