We usually just go in for a drink with the kids. We always have a lovely experience and the staff are fab with the kids! Dean is fantastic, his customer service and friendliness is brilliant! He's always happy and pleased to serve you. Dean is fab with the boys as well! The cleanliness has always been good. Thanks for a lovely experience

My husband and me had to take out granddaughter back to Barnstable so we decided to stop and have meal here we were not disappointed the food was lovely and so was the staff I recommend anyone to come and have a meal here and stay which we would have like to do

Very quick, friendly & efficient service.

Food was lush x I had red Thai curry & Lee had gammon steak. The only downside was there lots of kids screaming & running around - I didn't expect that at 21.30 at night ! Been a few times, never had this problem before. Always had consistently good food & service in the past x

I have stayed here several times over the last two years. It is very much a case of who serves you!? The two nights I stayed this week the service and food were very good, however I stayed for several nights last year about August time and service was absolute rubbish both at breakfast and dinner. Hopefully the staff now are the right people to keep the good service going.😊👍

Was alright staff were friendly but brought the wrong food out and put the wrong side sauces with mains....who puts peppercorn sauce on the side of a lamb curry!

Went here last night for my mates 21st birthday meal. The women who was serving our tables was excellent, cant complain. Bar staff was very poor though, stood waiting for ages just to get 2 pints and a tango whilst bar staff were doing other things or stood around. Drinks are extortionately expencive for a place thats basically the same standards as a weatherspoons. We arrived there at around 7:30, but no sign of food arriving until getting on 9 pm. Food tasted good, but my lasange had next to no meat in it and was mostly just pasta sheets, for £8.50 i expected it to be twice the size, felt like i was eating a childs meal for the price of an adult. Also another child in our party, her bun was rock hard on her burger which leads to think they were left under a heat lamp for way too long. Definatly not worth the money for what you get. The baby changing facility was filthy and lookedlike it hadnt been cleaned in months. Great evening due to the party we were with and the odd staff members but wouldnt be going again.

We ordered new Mexican burger it was very very spicy I love spicy food but burger not very enjoyable wouldn't recommend it to anyone there was also a bit of a disturbance which I don't think was dealt with very well it involved one of staff a women think it was manageress apologised there were children there it was a bit embarrassing this happened yesterday afternoon the member of staff who was involved took other person involved outside but there was a lot of shouting and steering which wasn't very pleasant for customers member of staff was outside for quite a while which meant it was short staffed behind bar so people were kept waiting think place is going down hill quickly which is a shame we use to enjoy going up barumgate

There was not enough staff to start with. Service was extremely slow.

We nearly ended up with someone else's food order.

Our Order was messed up. Food was over cooked. Staff were very un helpful.

Not a place I will be visiting again.

Hmm. Staying at the premier Inn for a week. 1st night, My dessert arrived before my main. 2nd night the initial service was good. But never got my dessert and I had to ask at the bar. Then I decided to give it a miss. 3rd night. Food took a little bit to arrive and they forgot the starter. Now watching a couple next to me who arrive am hour after I ordered and guessing they will get their dessert before I do. I don't get why they have more bar staff then the serving staff. Only a 30min wait after my main was finished.

well its a nice place But took to long to get a drink , mess up our 18th birthday booking yes we did have to change it , must say they did try to get it all sorted , well the food , depends what you are expecting for a large party ??? some good some emmmm not so good is the polite way to say ok , not enough staff on that night ...

Waited over for 10mins to be seated to a table whilst bar staff were drinking and chatting behind the bar only when we got attention of a member of staff they came over. Only main menus were given to us. Then the Sunday lunch menu after we asked. Finally ordered our food & drinks. Drinks came they were wrong. Waitress went to get more, in the meantime our food - lukewarm arrived - still no drinks.

Best thing I can give of this review is the cauliflower cheese charged at an extra cost.

In the area we sat were 4 tables were being served 3 of the 4 had complained or had an issue!

Very long wait on a quiet Sunday. Food appalling I had beef stew & dumplings ?. The dumplings were baked four small pieces of beef 2 pieces of mushrooms processed mash potato out of a packet. The small dumplings was dry and obviously mad by someone who does know what a dumplings is very poor performance.

Should have learnt our lesson from last time. Slow service, wrong food being brought to the table, also received in the wrong order. Had to wait over half an hour for pudding, they told me we hadn't ordered pudding, despite when ordering it I was told they would bring it out straight away. Brought out 1 pudding for 1 child, meaning the other had to sit and watch until theirs came out. Bland food. Nobody seems to know what they are doing. Won't be returning. Waste of time and money.

Shocking..turned up and turned away as they would not serve a table of 10..place empty and no bookings..manager laughex and barman carried on talking to the only customer in the place

Service last night was dreadful we had to go and get our own drinks from the bar as we had waited over 10 mins and my main course was disgusting it was the size of a starter - the breakfast service was better this morning though - don't think I'll go back though

Ordered chicken skewers for starters, was over cooked and dry, had Table Table mix grill for main so l went for the rump upgrade cooked medium for an extra £3.00. Main turn up which was well over cooked and not the correct upgrade steak, spoke to the waitress and she took the steak away to be replaced with the correct steak, but never received my replacement steak by the time l finished my meal. Complained and had a small deduction off the bill. Not happy with service, very disappointed with the food.

Just been in and waited an hour and a half and still no food will never be going back again in the hour and a half I was waiting no waitress come over to see how we was or what we was waiting for can't believe how bad it really was I'm in shock and if I could give it less than 1 star I would DO NOT recommend to anyone !!!!!!

Just been for breakfast and will never return. Food was ok (wouldn't rate it) but the staff were so rude!! We waited 10 minutes to be seated, we booked a table for 10.30. The table wasn't ready (even though there were only 3 other tables with customers!) so had to wait another 5 minutes after finally being seen for them to set our table up and to bring a high chair out (which was then broken, so had to wait again whilst they found another one!) we then ordered our hot food and went to get drinks...the lady was packing it away and said we couldn't have any because they stop breakfast at 11! Even though we had just paid £18 for it!!! My husband said this and she rolled her eyes and poured apple juice all over him and didn't even apologise! Absolutely shocking customer service and we will not be returning.

It's a shame you cannot give zero stars.



This place has proven to be appalling time and time again! The wait time was 45 minuets, with a not overly busy restaurant. The food orders came out wrong. The food itself lacked any taste and even the texture was off. The waiter was trying his best but obviously that was the only redeeming factor, and he did not manage to redeem it enough. If you want a drink a coke it will cost you price of a pint anywhere else.

The only option available for vegans is the side of chips which was £2.59 and amounted to 12 chips (which where the wrong ones anyone as I asked for skinny not chunky) Then we go to pay (reluctantly as it was appalling). For us to stand at the till being ignored for the good part of 15 minuets. Only to be passed between two different people before finally being seen. To have our order messed up on the till waiting another 15 minuets trying to sort it out. So what should have been a 40 minuet meal, turned in to a two hour train wreck, of long waits, and bad over priced food. This might be forgivable if it was a one time problem, bit this is the norm for Barum Gate. DO NOT GO HERE! It's a waste of time and money.

I have stayed here several times over the last two years. It is very much a case of who serves you!?
