Base X Community Development Agency

BASE is a newly created platform that hosts most of the BAME networks that exist in Greater Manchester. BASE came about as a result of research carried out by GMCVO in 2019 that showed a clear gap in BAME communities' awareness of Social Investment and Social Enterprise. This led to GMCVO being funded by The Connect Fund for 3 years to develop such a network and for it to be an independent entity by April 2022. BASE is now in the process of cutting the umbilical cord from its surrogate mother in the form of GMCVO to become completely independent. Further research funded by Esmee Fairbairn Foundation in 2022 carried out in partnership with BASE members and GMCVO led to BASE Business Plan that set out the ‘roadmap' to meet the needs of local Communities of Colour. BASE, led by organisations /networks of colour and the Lead Officer, have now evolved into something much more of a platform for BAME networks and infrastructure organisations.
