My 5 stars is mainly for the wonderful ladies in the crèche. I’m not normally one for leaving my children in crèches but these ladies are an absolute credit to the gym and being a busy working mum of three with very limited help with my children, these ladies allow me to have a little time for myself.... I can honestly say I do not worry about my son at all when he’s in the crèche and most importantly he absolutely loves it there... win win!!! Thanks you ladies at the sporting villiage crèche. x

I've been going since March 2017. I think it's excellent value for money. I use the gym and various classes. All the staff are friendly knowledgeable and supportive. The facilities are good. The pool is heated and changing rooms are usually clean. The cafe provides decent food and is a nice size. Excellent to meet friends and recover from a workout. Plenty of parking. If it had a sauna and steam room it would be perfect. :)

User

Great facility. The pool and changing rooms are really clean and a nice temperature. The cafe is really nice with a good selection of food and drink for both the adults and the kids. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

User

Can only comment on the pool as that's all I've used here, but think it's excellent. Lots of space and always lanes available for length swimming and separate areas for kids and families. It's always been clean when I've been and the staff have always been polite. Quite good value too.

User

Basildon Sports Villiage Has to be the Best Swimming Pool in Essex. people have the choice of Shallow end or deep end for Lane swimming, I choose shallow end as I haven't been swimming for ages, they do a yellow band session so it is not too packed and keeps numbers low, I saw families enjoying family time as well as child swimming lessons and they do Adult swimming lessons and Aqua fit. Brilliant can't wait to go swimming again, returnable £1.00 for the locker and free use age of hair driers ,, 5 stars well done as there is plenty of lifeGuards too. Well done Basildon

User

The pools are great and kids love it here. The kids parties are fun and keep them active whilst the gym has everything you need for a good work out.

My only down falls to the place is the baby pool is closed a lot due to swimming lessons so you do need to check before you go. The website timetable is not always kept up to date so probably best to call. I was put off the gym as when I was ill for a week and didn't attend, I had a gym member ask me why I hadn't been and it happened again after I stopped going for a month whilst my kids were off school during the holidays. I didn't like having tabs kept on me as I was there for me at my own pace not to be kept an eye on. This may suit some but it put me off.

User

Excellent sporting Centre for pay as you go. Very expensive for monthly membership though...for less than £10 extra you can get more facilities at the Kingswood Health Club. Steam room, sauna etc which is not available at the Sporting Village. Nor do you have to queue at Kingswood.

It's a shame...I have a disabled child who would really benefit from attending regular activities here but quite honestly it works out cheaper to join Club Kingswood.

User

bit annoyed tbh. my children come to swimming classes here and the teachers are good. but there are too many children per class. it is ridiculous. there are 8 children in my childrens class and they struggle to all fit in the little square they are given and they all.bump into each other. the children in the class are not getting the right attention because there are too many. I have 3 children that have swimming lessons here and I am seriously thinking of leaving and taking them else where. I have already looked into other classes at different pools. I am really frustrated with the situation. why are there so many children per class???? and the cleanliness of the centre is disgusting!

User

Really unhappy with the staff here as I have phoned up to move my son to the next class on his swimming to get told its my fault that I have limited myself to only being able to attend on two day which they only offer it on one day and only do one class so all in all she just said he can. It go up as I work I have to end the phone call as her attitude was so bad really think about cancelling his swimming lessons

User

Fairly good facilities, shame nobody gave me a good tour of the centre at the time of signing up - I would have realised they have a great swimming pool, ..... but no sauna or steam room....!!!!

Good classes, though they cancelled a lot of the weekend classes I was using a lot. No explanation...

The worst thing about this centre is the non existent customer support - anything goes wrong - don't bother calling - they don't pick up a phone, don't respond to emails, even when I turned up in person to talk to someone to resolve some issue - magically... nobody can help. I only go there because yoga classes are at a time that suits me, other than that - go elsewhere!

User

went swimming to day with my 2 daughters nearly feel over at the price £10.40 what are you thinking that would mean for the whole of my family to swim would be £30+ which is a joke , then to find out that the small pool dont open till 12 and then only allowed in it for 30 mins due to lessons taking place. for the price you lot are charging think you should sort it out will NOT be using your pool again your prices are well over the top the place is dirty and your staff are rude,

User

Very angry with the way I have been treated and no one has any answers I wanted to join a gym but have mental health issues so this gym was the only GP referral one week after signing up was when problems happened first issue I had was not getting let through it was because head office did not receive this when it was sent off I phoned head office they said no they received straight away went back and the problem have sorted then some strange reason the next issue was 2 days later and it was cancelled direct debit problem so was told to fill out another direct debit up and pay a Manual payment so went to the bank thy said they cancelled nothing and now today the problem I have is is won't be let through because I owe £40 where that come from it's meant to be £80 the reason I say this is because I have not been treated right and it's not fair to be strung along

User

Unable to make my gym membership due to ill health and several operations and #Basildonsportingvillage won't freeze my account as I paid my annual cost upfront. #takeyourmoney #dontpayannual #Poorservice, #badmanagement,

I loved going to the gym and keeping fit, unfortunately in a space of 2 & half years I had 5 major operations on my shoulders & knee. I now feel penalised that I paid the upfront cost and how they have treated me. I have recommended BSV to so many people as they were so helpful before and now when I need them most they have let me down. I have also provided them with gp letters & surgeon letters. Doctors & surgeons had recommended for me to use the gym to get back on my feet when I was able to after every op.

They have a new manager in who is not sympathetic and is just out to cash in on more money. Because of how unhelpful & unsympathetic this manager was I called their Head office, only to be told that they cannot help me & passed it back to the new manager!!

Hopefully this would be the last time I would need it extended, I'm almost there and when I'm feeling more positive about things I've been let down. I need them to help me get back on my feet and feel that even if they froze my account I would be happy to pay the £5 like they would of charged if I were a monthly customer. However as I have payed upfront, this option is not available! So, not only have I had my ill health to deal with, I now have to deal with this that the new manager in BSV has created!

User

Took daughters swimming monday evening to say the changing rooms where filthy is an understatement! First changing cubicle had empty sandwich box and banana skin, second just random thrown rubbish... floor was black from what i can only assume was shoes of parents who's children had lessons then to top it off took youngest to family changing area to find someone had urinated on the baby change!. God knows when changing area was checked. Horrific! If the kids had not have been so excited to go swimming would have turned around and walked back out!.

User

Terrible customer service, my daughter has had swimming lessons here for almost a year, STAFF MADE AN ERROR and moved her to a new class with a different teacher who is SHOCKING and by the time we found out the week after they had given her proper space away with the correct teacher and there is no longer room for her. In 3 weeks with the new teacher she has regressed massively with her swimming and is given only the option of swimming with a bloody noodle when she hasnt used one of these for months with her correct teacher. Complaint made, manager said nothing she can do other then cancel and when i complained further and cancelled her membership none of my problem/complaint was even noted on the account with 6000 kids enrolled they couldnt care less. My child now suffers and i have to find a new swim school.

User

My rating is largely to do with the swimming pool changing facilities. They used to always be clean and free of clutter, but in the last few months have become dirty, tatty and unpleasant to use. I have written in to EA with my concerns, and have had a reply, but nothing seems to be done to improve them. The reply I received mentioned that some people do not use the blue overshoes - but resumably, everyone going into the changing rooms has to go through reception first, and those areas are always clean! Today then - had real trouble finding a changing cubicle that did not feature gum on the floor and/or walls, grimey floor tiles, general bit of detritus, and many hair balls. It’s horrible! I did also report broken door handles and also that some of the showers had missing push buttons, so you couldn’t use them. Showers now seem to be fixed, but nothing done about the doors handles.

User

I phoned the sporting village this morning enquiring about the baby pool, I was told the last session today was 3pm. Took my 3 year old little girl and 7 week old son, got to the desk only to be told the baby pool closed at 2pm today. I am absolutely livid, my little girl got very upset, as she’s been looking forward to it all day! The lady at the desk was less than helpful, not even apologising for the information I was told over the phone, and was actually very rude! Absolutely fuming at the lack of communication and people skills!

User

I love the sporting village and have been going there for many years.

But Friday I took my 16 month old swimming and after we sat in the cafe where I purchased a tea and had a small box of rice salad for myself.

Then I was rudely approached and told I cannot eat my own food because of cross contamination but the baby could eat

I am aware there are signs but I had a small amount of food.

Being a busy mum of three girls I took a rare opportunity to take the little one swimming and then would have to go straight and pick the other 2 girls from school. It would have been my only chance to have some food. They set the swim time as 12-1 so right at lunch for babies and mothers .

I actually have a full gym membership there, I pay for 2 swimming lessons a week for 1 child and the other starting shortly and also pay for my daughter in the gymnastics squad.

I spend a fortune in that place and in the cafe on occasions.

On this occasion I didn’t have money to buy the exspensive cafe food and I needed to eat.

Also I only have a halal diet so I cannot really eat in a cross contaminated kitchen because they clearly Mix meat paninis with non meat when cooking them.

Makes me so cross as I then went without any food until after I had picked my girls up from school. Also felt embarrassed it was so publicly said to me in that mannor. How about a quiet word rather than the whole place knowing about it.

Feeling like I would rather go else where tbh the more I have thought it over through the weekend.

As for the rest of the centre we love it.

The cafe and staff are much to be desired with their un professional approach and shouting across the cafe to the other staff members to make them a coffee. Just after they had told me not to eat there.

To add I spoke to the receptionist who then continued to compare it like taking your own steak to a restaurant. Well we all know it’s clearly not the same. So silly honestly.

User

Fuming!!!!!

Wasn't given full information on gym membership Tuesday!!!!!

Told to ring num, which I did and left a message, no one returned call

Went in last night just to be told no one here to sign u up

Was told to come back today

Arrived today

Just to be told "no"

No apology! No compassion for the f@ck up.... nothing

Wasted my time, dragging myself out when I'm in agony today could have been avoided if things were explained properly in the first placenot happy.

Some of yr staff r rude and arrogant.

I'd appreciate a call back

And I'd appreciate what was offered to be granted! Other wise I'll take my custom elsewhere,
