Bass Guitar Tuition Description

I have been a full time professional musician and a music tutor for over 22 years.
I had the opportunity to tour with various bands in UK and Europe. Some of the venues that I played in London are the Royal Festival Hall, The National Theatre, The Hammersmith Apollo, The Hippodrome, The Forum and many others.

I shared stage with Alexander O Neal, Eric Bell(Thin Lizzy), Galliano , The James Taylor Quartet, Walter Trout, Bad Manners, Chas and Dave, Gong, Hawkwind, The Blokheads, The Levellers, Lamb, The Pogues , The King Blues, Dreadzone to name but a few.

I am a self taught musician and I learn to play music (and I am still learning! ) on the road by meeting many brilliant musicians from different musical backgrounds .

Most of those musicians are world class performers and they never been to school, they had to learn music by watching and networking with more experienced players and make a living out of it.

While I was performing regularly on festivals, venues, clubs I spent a lot of time to study teaching programs from the Musicians Institute of LA , Berklee College of Music, Jamey Aebersold , Mel Bay and many others.

Ten years ago I decided to undertake The Certificate on music Studies at Goldsmith University and passed succesfully.

As a RGT tutor I can help you to prepare for the preliminary and graded examinations on bass guitar up to grade 8.

I will follow the Thames Valley University Syllabus which is part of LCM (London College of Music) .

The LCM examinations count onto the NQF(National Qualifications Framework) which means that candidates applying to UK universities through the UCAS system can increase their points tariff if they have been awarded a Pass or higher at Grades 6-8 in accredited subjects.

But If you only want to learn specific topics or just learn some songs feel free to contact me.

I teach on 4, 5, 6 strings Fretted and Fretless Bass.
I have a fully equipped recording studio where I run my lessons.
Recording your self is a very good way to monitor your progress and helps you on building confidence.

My teaching program includes:

1. Warm Ups (exercises to warm up, build and stretch muscles involved when practising bass guitar).
2. Techniques like Finger style, Pick style, Slapping, Tapping, Harmonics, False Harmonics, Chordal arrangements)
3. Styles like Rock, Funk, Jazz, Progressive, Heavy Metal, Pop, Soul, Blues, Latin(Bossa Nova, Samba, Partido Basso, Partido Alto, , Forro, Baiao, Afro Cuban, Bolero, Mambo, Salsa, Son, Montuno, Guajiira, Guaguanco, Rumba, Flamenco. Merengue, Cha Cha, Tango), Reggae, Calypso, Rai, High Life, Soca.
4. Music Theory : Scales( major, pure minor, harmonic minor, melodic minor, pentatonic, blues, diminished, altered, whole note, hindu, pelog, hirajoshy, Kumoy, Gypsy), Harmony(Chords and Arpeggios from Scales), Modal system and his applications, Chord progressions, Jazz Improvisation , Song analysis and key centres.
5. Playing songs, grooves and riffs.

On my lessons I try to make it fun and encouraging as much as possible.

Through sometimes I know it can be frustrating especially when approaching some completely new techniques and new musical concepts.

Playing an instrument involves the development of new mental and physical strengths.

Patience and regular practice is the key of success and I believe that anybody can achieve results if they are willing to put enough effort into it.

The joy of music is inside of all of us and it must be shared! !
