About Beaconsfield Squash & Racketball Club

The club welcomes players young and old at any level of ability. We offer coaching, a variety of competitions, and social events too!

Beaconsfield Squash & Racketball Club Description

Beaconsfield Squash Club was built in 1972 /3 by Lord Burnham on land that was owned by him. Today, we are a members club with a lease on our premises from the Burnham Estate.

The club was opened in June 1973 by Judge Lawrence Verney who had at one time played squash for Wales. His challenge was that he could beat any player the first time he played them and proved it by winning a match against Jonny Leslie (who later became the last British Amateur Champion. )

Well known former members include: Jonny Leslie and Phil Kenyon who each represented England, Stuart Davenport who was the New Zealand number one, Sue Devoy who for a number of years was the Ladies World Chanpion as well as Dick Carter who rose to prominence as a Senior.

During the 1970's the club provided almost the entire Buckinghamshire squash team. Now Beaconsfield can still claim to be the most successful club in the county, with four men's and three ladies teams in the county league.

The Club boasts a very strong Junior squad.

The club welcomes players at any level. We offer beginners excellent coaching facilities and the chance to play in a variety of competitions as well as sample our range of social activities.
