We couldn't resist posting a close up of one of our new emu chicks as featured with Paul earlier on!

Deputy Curator Paul introduces three new arrivals at Beale Park. They're off show at the moment but should be on public display in two weeks or so. Watch this space!

Throwback to that spring when one of our Peahen's decided to take an impromptu splash in our new aviary 😂

User

Hard to believe, but this stunning room is actually Beale Park Pavilion, now home to a model boat collection. When Gilbert Beale was alive, he and his family would arrive in a Rolls Royce on Sundays and have afternoon tea in here!

There's a lovely walk by the Thames at Beale Park. We took these photos last week at the Pangbourne end of the estate. Kenneth Grahame, author of Wind in the Willows, stayed in Pangbourne. Perhaps he drew inspiration from walks like this?!

Plenty of purple flowers growing in our gardens during spring 💜

We visited Beale park today! Myself and my partner took my nephew and son and all 4 of us loved it we had great fun. The boys were so excited walking around looking at the animals and of course the train was there favourite. I can defo say we will be returning

User

Visited Beale park today with my extended family and we all had an excellent time. The staff were very helpful, the play areas very well kept, safe and clean with lots to keep the youngsters happy. The gardens have improved a great deal and there is obvious ongoing improvements. The animals were on good form today although some were still hiding from the cold. We all had a super time and will be returning soon.

Had a lovely day there with family, only thing I would say is I bought 2 slush puppies and the person serving seemed like the ice queen herself, park was very quite so cannot understand how someone with nothing to do can be so blunt with a paying customer what with all four of us paying to get in plus close to 10 quid on drinks when park was so quite surely a happy attitude fake or not wouldn't go a miss as that money must go towards there wage at the end of the day! Other wise lovely weather lovely place rest of staff were fantastic!

User

Absolutely loved our day at beale park plenty to keep my 8,6 and 2 year old entertained such a beautiful setting the staff are polite and helpful and its such an affordable price the cafe is also excellent value for money. I was particularly impressed with the improvements made to the childrens play area which has tons more stuff compared to our last visit a few years ago . Will definitely be visiting again and have highly recommended it too my friends.

User

We have returned home from yet another fantastic day at Beale Park...there is so much for our daughters to do and a family ticket is only £34

We really love that you stock dairy free food, drink, treats and ice cream/lollies too

My only criticism is that staff have to carry hot food orders through the queuing public (including children and buggies)...there must be a safer way especially when the restaurant is so busy

User

We had a great day my little boy just loves it and runs around all day. Great play areas for all ages and lots of places to eat our picnic.

This was our second visit in 3 months so we were disappointed to see the sensory machine's which record you running or flapping your arms like a bird still broken. After 3 months i would have expected them fixed. The train was not working which was a great disappointment too but i know these things happen

Nappy bins in toilets really need changing and cleaning every day...they really stank the place out! Also one of the baby changing unit was very dirty.

Great park hope next time a few things are fixed

It was a really good day out for the family for £10 per adult and under 2 free I thought it was well priced. The only negative is that the food pricing there is to high. The food is nice but over £5 for a sausage baguette with no sides is taking advantage I would defo go again but would advise taking a picnic. The park was very clean.

User

Had an amazing day today with our two year old and 6 month old, so much to do and we all loved it! Only downside is after paying near on £40 to go in, we were told that if we wanted to get an annual membership we would have to pay full price and todays admission wouldn’t be knocked off the price. Obviously we didn’t want to sign up for an annual membership when we hadn’t ever been and didn’t know if we were going to like it. Anywhere else we’ve joined to take the children have knocked off your admission if you join soon after. This has put me off slightly as it gets expensive for a family of 4! If it wasn’t for this then we would have bought an annual membership before leaving the park!

User

Had a lovely time yesterday took my 4 month old and it was our friend’s little ones 1st birthday - it was a lovely day not too busy and the animals were out and about so the children could see! Easy to walk around with buggies. The train was great fun for them! We’ll defs be back! X

User

Brilliant day out today. Arrived at 10.10 and no queing..bonus! Took our 3 year old and she absolutely loved it, the pool especially. Just seeing how happy she was running around having a great time just makes this place amazing. So much to do and look at. Such lovely animals and the parks are great fun. My only issue which I feel I should say because I’m 6 months pregnant and made me quite sick is your toilets which a lot were moaning about, I walked in and nearly threw up wee allover the floors and toilet seats, no toilet paper and absolutely stank of urine, they were filthy (ones at the entrance of the park) as it’s been hot I think that didn’t help the smell either, only thing that let it down but besides this such a great day out and worth the money spent be coming back very soon!

User

We were lucky with the weather and the grandchildren enjoyed it, but there was no train running which at the front desk we were not told about before paying, and i have to say the lady on the front desk was not very happy at all, she came out to help get my dad a wheelchair just as i was trying to get out the door with a buggy and a buggy board and myself as my three year old granddaughter need the toilet! she pushed passed and different offer to open the door! also i understand she was not very helpful with the wheelchair either!

My sister pushed my father around in the wheelchair but coming down off of the bridge in the gardens, my father got thrown out as there was a drip at the bottom !! he was ok and not hurt, but just be careful anyone pushing anyone around!! the rest of the staff on the park were great and very helpful

We went today and as always had a great day. There is one major problem however with a severe lack of shelter from the sun. In the play area where ther is a sand pit, paddling pool, restaurant and playground there is virtually no shade from the hot sun. There are only 6 umbrellas over tables which were of course fully occupied and there are loads of other tables with no umbrellas over at all. The sandpit is so hot that not one child was in it today and people eating or watching their kids play had no protection from the sun at all. In this day and age it is shocking that a place really aimed at young children hadn’t thought about this at all. Both my children’s faces were bright red after eating lunch and having a short play. We had to move on to try and find some shade under a tree away from the area before they over heated. It is dangerous and needs addressing. I won’t be going on a hot day again that is for sure!

User

Park is fantastic, a lovely place to be in and so well looked after. The only thing that let today's visit down was the attitude of one individual, serving the ice creams at approximately 1500. There was already a young girl there, who was trying her best to serve everyone by herself, then an additional girl came out full of attitude, didn't want to be there, moaning about being there, mumbling under her breath when questioned about her service and then to top it off, came out the hut on her mobile and smoked a cigarette. No offence everyone has the right to a break but smoking in a playground next to loads of children and in front of her customers is irresponsible and quite frankly disgusting. Maybe a private break area is needed.

User

I have always had a beale annual pass and find it’s s lovely place to visit for a few hours however it’s disappointing this year that given all the amazing work being done, unlike other family friendly places beale is really lacking on the shaded family areas. With my eldest I used to come, have a picnic under trees for shade however there seems to be no where this year which is preventing me coming with my newborn. As a result I regret my annual pass as places like wellington country park have put up umbrellas everywhere for families. Such simple things make all the difference and I hope beale do something about this soon especially in the play area. It’s impossible to let a older child use the park and swim area if there is no where to shade from the sun and watch them if needed

First visit to Beale Park, didn't realise it was so big with lots to do! It's a well looked after Park, kept very tidy. We hardly saw a waste bin! Wish we had allowed more time than the afternoon we spent there, we shall be going back. Just hope the young lady who served my son in law the ice cream was just having a bad day and that wasn't her normal manner, as she was curt to say the least. Thankfully it didn't spoil our time there. Our grandchildren had a wonderful time, sandpit, swings, slides, climbing frames, animals, train ride. Didn't get to the little tikes area in time nor the paddling pool area-complete with changing area.... but there's always next time!

I visited on Sunday with my partner and our 3 year old niece and we were completely disappointed.

I had been to Beale park previously, about 4 years ago and thought there wasn’t many animals to look at and those that were there, were mainly birds but thought it might have changed & upped the game.

We paid £20.50 to get in (my partner is a student so got a reduced rate) and honestly I would rather have paid the extra and visit a farm with some decent animals.

There was a number of enclosures which didn’t have animals in, assuming this could have been due to the time of the year, however if it’s too cold for the animals, maybe the park shouldn’t be open?

The animals that were there were hiding away (due to the cold weather) however I do think the enclosures could have spaces for little ones to see, some did however there was a few which didn’t - which unfortunately seemed to be the ones where the animals were being a little more active!

The best part was the park, my niece enjoyed playing and exploring - however looking back I could have visited a local park for free, rather than paying £20.50 for the opportunity.

We travelled 45 minutes each way to visit and spent more time in travelling than we did going round the park itself.

Throughly disappointed and won’t be recommending to friends and family, a real shame.

I took my 4 children to Beale Park many years ago when they were young and I visited again on Saturday 19th August with 2 of my grandchildren. The thing that really concerned me was the lack of any proper first aid provision in a facility that attracts so many children..

I cut my leg quite badly in the children's play area and just needed some large plasters to stem the blood pouring down my leg! There were no staff around so on enquiring at the icecream kiosk I was told to go to the restaurant; in the meantime we noticed a hut with a 'first aid' sign at the far end of the paddling pool. Having limped up there, I found the door open but the hut was unattended; back to the restaurant where I was told to just go into aforementioned hut and help myself to whatever I needed; back to the hut. The only supplies there were a few vials of eyewash fluid, 2 eye pads/bandages and about a dozen small sticking plasters. These plasters were in a small rack on the wall and were almost impossible to remove as they were all stuck to each other !

Considering the very extensive (and fun) play areas plus the paddling pool, I would hate to think what would happen if there was a severe injury or real emergency. I would like some response from the Park staff to this.criticism.

Having visited Beale park numerous times over the past 9 years, yesterdays visit was a little disappointing.....lots of run down areas (birds, goats, zip line), far less little tykes houses than previous visits and the loss of train conductor making it a bit of a scrum....scheduled group visit for September moved to a different location and unlikely to return in all honesty.....

User

Really disappointed we spent £34 to enter today with our two boys and everything looked overgrown worn down and old hardly any animals in cages. The lemurs which is on all there advertising was a massive let down as there was a big enclosure with none in there and for the price you pay you could pay a little extra and visit some of the local farms and wildlife parks. It seems it has gone down hill since the last time i visited a few years ago and seems like all our money goes on statues and gardens instead of going towards doing up enclosures and putting a lick of paint around the place. Won’t be coming back anytime soon even with our discount vouchers that we were given on entry and won’t be recommending to freinds or family to visit either. Just such a shame as it used to be really good here and a great day out but we only spent 1hour then left because we were disappointed and children were not having fun and bored .
