If you see us at a market, we'd love to meet you - so do come and say hello!

Beany Podd is a vegan business. We're working toward a fairer world. You can, too!

Veganism is a way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of our fellow animals.

Why Vegan?

Because if we can live well, without choosing to hurt others - then why would we continue to hurt others?

The fact that we have the power to bring others in to the world, and exploit them for our own purposes, doesn't mean we have the moral right to do so.

When someone is born into a body that is different from ours, it does not mean that they have less right to their person-hood. . . it does not make them a number. . . it does not make them our commodity.

We can choose not to exploit others, we can choose to be fair. We can move toward a future, better world - based on justice for all. We can do it right now. . .

by becoming vegan. It's easy!

Home made Vegan Pizza. Makes 4
My base is home made garlic bread, which I baked previously. (I form my pizza bread bases in sponge tins to make lovely deep rounds). Or you can use any vegan bread base or vegan pizza base.
My tomato base is made with a tablespoon of veg oil, 1 can tomatoes, 1 cup diced onions, 2 tablespoons tomato puree, 1 tablespoon garlic puree and 1 tablespoon of vegan boullion.
... Mix well and rapidly cook down to a thick, lumpy, smoothable (but not at all runny) paste in a frying pan on high heat (about 5-10 mins.
Allow tomato mix to cool before spreading onto the garlic bread base. Also give it time to sink into the base slightly before adding the other toppings.
Slice 4-8 mushrooms and fry lightly in a little oil, allow to cool.
Slice up 4-8 slices vegan "bacon" into thin slices
Slice 4 firm tomatoes thinly into 8 slices for each pizza.
Grate 200 - 250 grams of vegan melting or hard vegan cheese.
Make up your pizza layers.
Spread the tomato mix onto the pizza bases if you have not already done so.
Add a light layer of cheese on each (less than half)
Add a layer of "bacon" strips
Add the tomato slices thinly spread over each pizza
Add the mushroom slices
Top off the pizzas with the rest of the vegan cheese.

Or
Bake immediately in a pre-heated oven at 200c for only 10-15 mins.
If baking from frozen, bake for a further 8-10 mins.
Enjoy!
