Bedfordshire National Trust Rangers Description

We look after an array of countryside sites at the Northern end of the Chilterns including Totternhoe Knolls, Sharpenhoe Clappers, Sundon Country Park, Moleskin and Markham Hills, Smithcombe Hills, Chute Wood, Dunstable Downs, Whipsnade Downs and Whipsnade Heath. We also help a group of Trustees to care for Whipsnade Tree Cathedral. Half of our sites belong to the National Trust and the other half are managed in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council. Our busiest site is Dunstable Downs where the Chilterns Gateway Centre can be found along with some of the greatest views in the Chilterns. We have a multi user path to allow easy access for wheelchairs. Why not come cycle your bike, ride your horse, walk your dog, or just sit and relax and take in the scenery. We have been named as the number one spot in the country to fly your kite. We would love to share our places with you and hope you discover some interesting things from our Facebook page.

Our property regulations are below:

- No BBQ's are allowed on any National Trust properties at any time.
- Litter should be placed in the correct bins and not dog bins. Should litter bins be full please take litter home with you.
- The use of drones is prohibited on NT sites.
- The releasing of balloons is prohibited. This is due to the Dunstable Downs being on the Luton airport and London gliding club flight path, special permission needs to be sought in conjunction with NT and the Aviation Authority.
- Chinese Lanterns are also prohibited on the Downs and our other sites due to fire risks and flight paths as per balloon release above.
- Dogs are welcome on site but we ask that dog bags and bins be used to clear any waste. Dogs should be kept on a lead at all times in sheep fields.
