Bedfordshire Steam And Country Fayre Description

Attracting over 20, 000 visitors each year, the Bedford Steam Engine Preservation Society aims to give an insight into the country life at the turn of the 20th Century when steam was in its hey day. Many working demonstrations are taking place wherever you may care to roam on the 400 acre site.

For the complete day out visit the beer garden, listen to the band and watch the Stage Show. Stay into Saturday evening and end your day marvelling at the magnificent line-up of showman’s engines generating the fairground rides and attractions. Dogs on leads are welcome.

We look forward to seeing you during the weekend.

We go every year come rain or shine! It's very affordable for such a large event and so much to enjoy for all ages. Having been to many steam events, this one is most local for us and 100% most enjoyable!

User

We came from Cheshire , we have been to Malpas yester year rally and Astle park and this was brilliant, well worth the money, lovely day out.

User

Tuesday 19th..home for the night but back in the morning. So proud of our Club...if Carlsberg organised rallies it wouldn't be a patch on ours. Lovely reading all of the wonderful reviews. Glad everyone had such a good time despite the harsh conditions this year. Feel very privileged to be part of such a great organisation. From setting up right through to clearing up it has been great fun! Thank you from the bottom of my heart BSEPS!

User

One of the if not the best rally to attend always well planned by a great team, well done !

User

If you only do one rally a year this is the one too do. Entered my little Aveling and Porter 3" scale steam traction engine on Friday to return on Sunday as a spectator.

User

If you head off to a Steam Rally/Country Fayre it's always best to check out the location/terrain/weather etc. Living fairly local that's never an issue for us.

Armed with raincoats and wellies we set off to have a good time, we're easy to please so a trek round the displays/exhibits a tea and donut in the rain, we had a great time.

Over the years you tend to see the familiar regulars which is always nice.

But there's always the new kids on the block, engines - lorries - rides - cars and of course the people that make up the whole shebang.

In the pouring rain there were still people laughing and smiling and taking it on the chin.

Well done everyone - you did well.

Cheers.

I have been going to this event since the 1990s and the whole weekend is always a delight. Even though I don't live in England anymore, I never fail to attend. It is well worth the journey and we go with the whole family. Something for everyone of all ages. From Steam engines, to vintage cars and motor bikes, farm equipment, craft stalls, loads of great food and craft beers and cider. Anyone of any age cannot fail to enjoy this weekend. Will be back with the family and friends in 2018. Can't wait. Love this event.

User

Great weekend as always best rally that we attend thanks to all involved, the weather may have limited movement but the spirit of the rally was not dampened

User

Great show with plenty to see and do. Wonderful atmosphere even in the rain this year

User

Fantastic festival for the whole family to enjoy. So much to do and see. Cant wait for this years show.

User

Considering the weather, still up there with one of the most enjoyable events of the year, with a Great committee making it run so smoothly! Thanks to everyone involved!!

User

At a time when many rallies are cutting down the steam element it was great to attend the event yesterday

( Sunday ) whilst some have said it was expensive it was literally a once in a lifetime experence to see all of those showmen's engines in one place. Well there is Dorset I hear you cry, well that line up was better than anything Dorset can come up with. The way they were arranged was simply outstanding. The atmosphere created was as good as anything I have witnessed for a long time. Engines from Cornwall to Aberdeen were in attendance and the overall feel of the event was excellent. As you can gather I go for the steam element, as I'm sure the majority of visitors do,nwith over 100 other engines plus organs, cars, tractors, working demonstrations, vintage caravans plus lots more, in reality £14.50 is excellent value. If you go to a west end show that's £60 upwards for 2 hrs entertainment. I was entertained for over 8 hrs yesterday. Wonder what the feature will be next year. Well done to all concerned and thank you Paul Worbey for gathering such an outstanding display

User

Always a great show - not cheap, but there is so much to do (more than a days worth TBH), a stunning line up of engines and the family ticket is good value if you have more than one child. Recommended!

User

A superb weekend as always, huge thanks to the BSEPS, rally committee & volunteers for making this the best rally we go to

User

A really fun day out for all the family! There was something for all of us. I'd like to see some animal showing & more country clothing next year but will certainly be returning👍🏼💖😀

User

Lovely show, thoroughly enjoyed it but I wish the food prices where little bit more reasonable , £5 for a waffle with 1 strawberry and a bit of chocolate sauce it's a bit too expensive

User

Better layout this year, no more hill climbing. Appears to have less stalls though. I would still like a baby changing tent as I saw in Dorset. I agree a set time for an engine parade would be good and to know when engines appear in front of the historic building for photo opportunities. Would love it if the Showman's engines were positioned there. Also would appreciate help at gate when exiting as many cars struggled like myself with traction on the damp ground and slope. The car needed a run up but cars too close to reverse.

User

Love this event but by the time we had brought a family ticket plus two adults and then brought six of us bacon rolls and drinks we had spent almost £100 in 15 mins. Loved the layout but would have liked to have seen more varied stalls. Less charity ones there this year. Not sure if we will be going again for a while. Will be looking for cheaper family events next year

User

£15 to get in was there and hour then told had to leave as its members only and would not serve us at the bar
