Rest Day!

User

Today is RUN day!
Go on - go out for at least 10 mins. Walk for 2, jog for as long as you can, cool down for 2 mins.
Give yourself a pat on the back!

User

Week 0, Day 3 - Time to make a list of everything that could stop you from getting into running.
Put it next to your reasons to run, compare them, which is the stronger list?
Make sure that you are ready to do this - that way you won't give in part way through and if you're not ready yet, come back in March for the next round.
... Mind first and the rest will follow.

Now, day 2. Go out for a walk - yes a walk, review a route that you think you'll be running. Look at the number of crossings you'll need to make, loose pavings, dogs barking in gardens.
It's a little risk assessment and route knowledge exercise. That can help your confidence when you come to run it.

Apologies! Day one was overcome but a technology error. But you've not missed a run - day one's job was to write down a list (short or long) or the reason why you want to start running.
Then, put this somewhere where you can refer to it when you feel like giving up or not going out for a run or to the gym.

Week 0 - The preparation week Workout 1 - Go for a 5 min walk, run slowly for 2 mins, walk for 1, repeat twice, walk for 5 mins. (Total 16 mins)

Do you think that there is an upper age on running? Why? (Based on comments I saw on another post today).

User

I'm doing RED Jan - that's run every day in January.
Want to be in the gang next year? Follow the plan that start next Monday!

Reading a few posts on another running thread today. Very sad to see that some partners are not supportive of their significant others running (or indeed any exercise).
Now whilst I can understand that training for an ultra distance (more than 26.2 miles) can take a lot of time away from home. Surely a little bit of running and keeping fit and well is to be supported?
So, before we get to week 0, our prep for the 0-5k 6 week programme, how will you overcome any challenges to your running?

User

Don't let anyone tell you different...if it's faster than walking it's called running. #yourpace

On the treadmill or outside running can help you forget the busy thoughts and relax

Running can be a cheap sport to take up. When you start you'll just need a comfortable pair of trainers (and a good bra for the ladies). Your mobile will be your tracker. All the rest can come later if you like running and want to keep it up.

New Year New You?

Well, the office team did the 'Glow on the Park' last week and it was lark! The 5k route had a few hills in but lots to take your mind off those long slow uphills.
If you fancy a run that is truly a Fun Run and not at all a race then this one is worth a try.

Week one for my team completing 'Glow in the Park' begun today.
They will simply be testing how they go on a 20 mins run/walk
