Definitely improved in the last year or so, service is better and the menu has more vegetarian options. The cakes are not to my taste but the savoury options are very good, the bread is really tasty too!

Lovely place with very friendly staff. Their food is good - salmon is perfectly cooked (not over cooked). The only thing I would fancy is a little more spice (most of their vegetarian options don't have a "kick", nevertheless tasty).

If you visit, their fruit tart is THE BEST fruit tart I have EVER tasted!! MUST TRY!! Can't recommend their fruit tart enough!! Expensive but well worth it👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Ordered a Fresh Cream Gateau for a family birthday from Wanstead branch and paid £24.15 for it. The cake wasn't FRESH. Please see the photos.

Was given mouldy, overdated fruit on the cake. Contradicts Belgique's apparant 'fresh quality ingredients and craftsmenship'. Discarded the cake and didn't take the risk eating it or serving it to others. Suffered severe embarrassment in front of family and friends during the birthday.

Contacted Head Office. Their response: "As you may recall......were very hot days which could cause a rapid spoilage of the raspberries'.
So basically they avoided any liability and just blamed the weather. Didn't even bother to offer a refund given that I paid in good faith for an EDIBLE product which was NOT IN FACT edible.

Stay far away from Belgique... Disgusting service and rotten products. Would never recommend.

Love this place. Always good food and very friendly staff. Great bread baked on the premises.

I have been here four or five times. Each time I went the service was lacking in some way. The only reason I would go there was due to its close proximity to work. But I've had enough of their inability to serve customers in the order in which they entered the cafe. How hard is it? I can't even tell you what the food is like because the poor service overshadowed the experience every time. It's really worth walking the extra few minutes to one of the many other places in Wanstead that serve cake, coffee and sandwiches in a timely and respectful manner.

We live locally and have often thought its a great place for a coffee simply because of it's location. However Everytime we go its disappointing. This time around it was going to take 30 minutes for a scone which to be frank is 20 minutes to long. We also ordered a virgin mojito smoothie which was made with mint essence rather than fresh mint. Now for some this may be acceptable but for the price tag of £5.70 for us, it's simply isn't. The customer service was, on the whole poor but we can appreciate that it was busy on a sunny afternoon. The menu has changed which is great however it lacked a clear vision, we aren't sure what Belgique is and what it's trying to achieve. It does seem that the menu is far to vast for a small establishment with a high customer turn over. It seems like they have bitten of more than what they could chew. On this occasion less would be more.

I have to say I disagree with some of the reviews here. The staff have always been wonderful and know my Mum (who comes weekly) by name and always look after her when she comes. The menu can be hit and miss but I will re iew what I eat which for me are the hits! Get yourself a good Belgium beer and a crab (real crab not sticks) sandwich on a good seeded brown bread, lovely!

Good food, great atmosphere. Slightly over priced but worth it.

Very disappointing service. I called up for a whole cake and was told they will keep it aside as I was on the way in to collect it in a taxi. Go there 20 mins later and was told they gave it to someone else instead. They didn't bother to call me back and I wasted a cab fare there. This is absolutely poor service and they charged £2.40 for a chocolate santa my nephew wanted. Never again.....a disappointment of service.

Love the coffee here! And the cakes are always so luxurious!

Belgique has become a real let down. The closing time (6pm) is ridiculous and is probably the reason why they have lost so many customers over the years. The coffee mediocre as is the service. They need to choose if they want to be a cafe or a restaurant because they are currently in between the two titles which makes the layout awkward and uncomfortable. I think Belgique should take a few tips from Costa Coffe before they go out of business for good.
