Belle Reflexology Description

Reflexology is a holistic, complimentary therapy that encourages the body to balance and heal itself.

It involves applying finger or thumb pressure in a systematic and precise way to specific points called reflexes, that are located on the feet and hands. These reflexes mirror the organs and structures of the body.
The primary effect of Reflexology is that it is deeply relaxing and when the body is relaxed it can begin to heal itself. Following a treatment clients may experience a release of tension, improved sleep, improved mood and a greater sense of well being.

Reflexology treatments are tailored to each individual person, taking in to account physical and emotional factors, treating the person as a whole.
Reflexology works alongside conventional healthcare to promote improved health and shouldn't be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice. Reflexologists don't claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe.

The practice of Reflexology has been traced back as far as ancient Egypt, Africa, India and China. However, it was not until Dr William Fitzgerald developed his theory of "Zone Therapy" that reflexology as we know it was introduced to the west. Fitzgerald believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were connected to areas and organs within the body. Eunice Ingham's work in the 1930's further developed Fitzgerald's theories into what is now known as Reflexology and she believed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot or hands is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

My passion for health and well being began when I trained as a Mental Health Nurse. Whilst working as a nurse I became interested in a more holistic approach to health and started working for Neal's Yard Remedies and it was here that I experienced Reflexology for the first time.

The benefits of reflexology amazed me and I decided to train as a reflexologist myself. Seeing the benefits that my clients experience fuels my enthusiasm for this therapy. As a member of Professional Reflexology I am fully insured and committed to continuing my professional development.
