Tourers in caravans, motorhomes or tents are welcome at our Camping and Caravanning Club site in Bellingham, which occupies a privileged location in the North Tyne valley within easy reach of the best of Northumberland. Stroll to the village and the spectacular waterfall of Hareshaw Linn, stride out along the Pennine Way, or try climbing the local crags. This land bares vivid reminders of its past; and none more spectacular than Hadrian’s Wall.
The historic houses of Cragside and Wallington are nearby, while Alnwick, the Simonside Hills, and the castles and coastline of Northumberland make wonderful day trips.
Try fishing for salmon on the North Tyne, canoeing, playing golf, or exploring historic Hexham. The adventurous will enjoy the challenging mountain biking in Kielder Forest and Go-Ape at Matfen, while Kielder Water with its watersports, shoreline walks, art and cycle trails, is wonderful for families.

Try to spot one of the nesting ospreys in the forest and, after sunset, enjoy the dark skies from the Kielder Observatory.

Take afternoon tea at Carriages Tea Room near the Bellingham Heritage Centre or
enjoy a drink or meal at the dog-friendly Riverdale Hall Hotel, a short walk from the site.

If you want an easier camping experience, try ‘glamping’ and hire a Pod on site. Our shop stock includes fresh, local produce from the Northumberland Sausage Company and Tarset Valley Marmalade. Stay with us to discover a hidden gem of a National Park.

No customers, site closed and quiet, except for us and our lovely Site Sitters Leigh & Kev AND except for the delivery of our new campsite communal hot tub - actually it’s the new water and sewage treatment plant. Never a dull moment. Just hoping it’s buried in the ground, pipes laid and the site is left tidy enough to open on 1st March. We’ll still be a ‘green’ only site for toilet chemicals - go green please! - the blue is really not good for the bugs we need to clean up our waste, nor for the environment. On that cheery thought, where’s that bottle to smash on the hull? (Eh?) 🤪

If you’re here next weekend, why not get in the Christmas spirit and spend time at the Hexham Christmas Market? Shop away those post-election blues 🙂

Upcoming event: March Stargazing on Bellingham Site
Our late November Star Camp is sold out, so here's a heads-up on dates for 2020. We hold 2 star camps per year, one in March and one usually in December coinciding with the Geminids meteor shower (except this year - full moon spoils the fun). The Star Camps are hosted by us and we make the site extremely dark to optimise night vision and great viewing of the skies. The event astronomers run the stargazing and are with the G...oStargazing team, led by Rob Ince. Large telescopes are on-site and talks are given in our wam refuge, along with free warming drinks and a log fire. The astronomers do all the talking and guide you expertly to constellations, planets, galaxies, nebula, star clusters and more! Dates: 13/14 March and 11/12 Dec (latter date to be confirmed). Booking is 'open' for the March Star Camp!

Work in progress on Ladies washroom! Still to fit the new vanity sinks in cubicles (new worktops are in place, with holes cut for sinks), plus perhaps mirrors might be useful too (not keen on them myself :) ).

Stargazing Camps 2019: Time to look at the stars again! Our March Stargazing Camp (29th/30th), led by Rob Ince and his helpers, is now SOLD OUT. BUT, we often get at least one cancellation, so worth phoning in March!
We have set the date for our Star Camp late in the Year for 22/23 Nov weekend. We normally run this in December to coincide with the Geminids meteor shower BUT..... a bright and fully risen full moon will be bleaching out the stars and deep space objects. Henc...e, we have moved it to a dark weekend, just after the smaller Leonids meteor shower and with an interesting conjunction of Venus and Jupiter - plus it is near the anniversary of the Apollo 12 moon landing. See https://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co. uk/…/publicevent5…/ Whether you come to a Star Camp or not - we hope to see you in 2019!

Getting excited as the new-look Ladies washroom is almost completed. We have upgraded the wall cladding and put shiny new doors on the toilet and sink cubicles! New radiators and hand dryer too. Lots of bits and pieces still to do, but should be OK for opening on 1st March!

For those runners out there - have a go on a beautiful route.....

A lovely atmosphere if you’re staying with us then 🙂

Many on site for this event at the weekend and the half Marathon. Good luck to all! Not sure a tent is where I’d want to come back to afterwards- they’re tough!

User

It’s a very sad but fond farewell to the best Campsite Assistants ever - off to new horizons (and more money probably!). Thank you Cath and Kelly for a companionable and happy 2 seasons and for helping so many of our customers enjoy their stay with us. You are stars! We wish you luck and happiness in your new adventures in the UK and abroad xx

User

Britain’s most beautiful marathon (and challenging!) coming soon! Unfortunately, campsite a bit too busy for us to take part 🙂 but you can!
