About Ben-Efit Bikefit Studio

Ben-efit Bikefit Studio is the worlds finest bikefit facility.

Ben-Efit Bikefit Studio Description

Ben-efit Bikefit Studio is unlike any other bike fitting service available.
Our Bike fit takes around 5 hours and we analyse everything from your feet up.
We start with a full Postural Assessment and Flexibility Test. This enables us to work out which muscles need correcting before fitting.
We then test your body composition (body fat, muscle, visceral fat and resting metabolic rate).
This is followed by a Pedal Stroke Analysis on the Wattbike to show how subtle changes affect power output, comfort and pedalling efficiency.

I have an incredible Step Daughter, called Isabelle. She and my partner Emma are my 2 favourite Human Beings. Unfortunately Emma's husband and Isabelle's father Paul died after an 18 month battle with a brain tumour. He was clearly an amazing man, as Isabelle is just wonderful and I've also met some of his friends who have been so welcoming to me. Emma works tirelessly to raise money in Paul's memory for Brain Tumour Research and I thought, that I should help raise some money... in his memory. So, with this in mind, I set off at 4.45am, on my bike to cycle from Minster on the isle of Sheppey at sun rise to Burnham on sea in Somerset, to see if I could beat the sunset. The distance is around 208 miles. I knew that I couldn't do this on my own, so I had 3 other incredible riders in the forms of Lloyd, Matt and Tony and we had a support crew of Emma and Matt's dad Nigel. The support crew went ahead at various points to feed and water us, however, it was 30°c yesterday, so the original 4 planned stops, ended up being 6 to provide us with much needed fluids. We had a crash at around 20 miles and 6 punctures! I was finding it very difficult to eat, as it was so hot and as a result of this I blew a gasket at 170 miles. Between 170 and 185 miles, I was out of my head, but a bag of Fruit gums saved me! I ate the whole bag and that gave me the energy to carry on! That and the fact that i had a little girl that I didn't want to disappoint. Here are some pictures from the event and if you are feeling especially generous, there is the link to my Just Giving page. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Another fantastic day at Ben-efit Bikefit Studio. We were joined by the very lovely Susie Ma, who was one of the finalists on The Apprentice. Susie has a major event coming up and heard about what we do. I fitted 2 bikes for her and judging by the smiles, she was very pleased. I had a great time asking her about her skin care business with SrAlan. (Not Sir Alan) It's one word SrAlan!

I had such a great afternoon with Darren Tripp today, helping him with his Bikefit, that I forgot to take any pictures of him on his bike! I did however take this beauty of just how low his saddle was in relation to his new position. Darren was complaining of knee issues and it's not really surprising, given how low his saddle was. I increased his saddle by 2.5cms, brought it forward 3 cms. I rotated the bars and raised the brake levers. It was the first time he could ride o...n the drops properly, since he bought the bike. I then "proved" the new position on the wattbike to show how the changes had effected the way that Darren pedalled. There was a significant increase in power due the activation of muscles, that were not previously being used. Anyway... Here is the photo you've all been waiting for:

Here I am with my new Best Friend Magnus Backstedt. 2004 winner of Paris-Roubaix, 1998 Tour de France Stage winner and around top bloke. Magnus broke and displaced 2 ribs after an accident at the weekend. I'd heard about the accident and offered to help. In the pictures I am using a medical TENS machine to relieve pain. I can then use the machine to flood the area with blood, which heals the area much faster- in many cases 4 times faster.... Magnus said he felt an immediate ease in the pain, which is a great sign. Hopefully this should make commentating on Eurosports a little bit easier tomorrow.

It was an action packed day at Ben-efit Bikefit Studio today. A 7 hour fit for Mick James saw me fitting 3 bikes: 1 Road Bike, 1 Time Trial Bike and a track bike with 3 altered positions for various track disciplines. The test today was to again make the bikes as comfortable as possible, as fast as possible all within the regulations set by the UCI. It was a great fun day and a real challenge mentally.... We of course stopped for tea and lunch! Here are some pictures of the day:

Another great day at Ben-efit Bikefit Studio. I don't think I've made so many minor adjustments to make such a huge difference in performance! I started with the cleats and moved them inwards to take pressure away from the knees. I increased the seat height and brought the saddle forwards to open up the hip flexors. I levelled the saddle, raised the bars and then had to move the brake levers.... The result was a much more aero and comfortable position, but with a significant increase in power. A huge thank you to Nick for his patience today. His comment that "The bike feels incredible" was worth the time we spent together. One very happy man.

Another great day today at Ben-efit Bikefit Studio. Duncan joined me today for a Bikefit. He produced some massive power figures once I showed him how to engage more muscle groups and opened up his hip flexors. The difference in power was nearly double! Below are some of the corrective exercises I also gave him to help breathe better on the bike. Thank you for your company today Duncan.... Ben 😊

I had a fantastic day today with one of the nicest people I've met. This is Graham and we met on Bloodwise's London to Paris bike ride last year. I made a few adjustments to his bike, which allowed all of the muscles in his legs to work, rather than just the one! I also gave Graham some corrective exercises to free some areas that were particularly tight and to balance his pedalling. The results were significant.... Thank you for your time Graham

I think that this has to be the greatest review I have ever had. Please do not read any further, if you are easily offended. Last week a client of mine brought her bike in. She had a Bikefit with me 6 years ago on another bike. I took one look at her on her new bike and shook my head in despair. ... "Don't touch anything!" she said. "I'm happy with the position and I don't want you fiddling with it!" Anyway, after a cup of tea and much persuasion, I told her that I would mark her current position, but would put her in the position that I thought was best and if, there was no improvement, I would put it back to the original position. Anyway... The card that is pictured, is the result of my work! 😂😂😂

Good Evening Everyone, This is Paul, who came in at the weekend for a Cleat Alignment and Pedal Stroke Analysis. He is recovering from a very nasty wrist injury and I put him into a more upright position that took away the load from his wrist. You can see this in the picture. As I've shown before, aerodynamics are not the highest priority in some cases, but the need to cycle is.... Once his wrist is healed, he go back to a more aggressive position. Pedalling efficiency is very much overlooked by cyclists, but is one of the key factors for cycling performance. Most cyclists only concentrate on power and fitness. Some riders will only put power through one part of the stroke. I've seen some cyclists that only produce power through 100° rather than the full 360°. This can be caused by a lack of flexibility, poor saddle position or just habit. Whatever the reason, aren't you curious to see how fast you could actually be? Please feel free to book in and see how fast I can make you! Ben

This is Christine and she came in for a tweak on her position today, followed by some coaching. I give post bikefit exercises to clients and as their posture improves, their position changes. This is a very important part of my business. With Christine today, I rotated the saddle downwards to allow the opening of the hip flexors. This will allow more power with less effort. The downside to this is that it increases pressure on the forearms, so we opted for a slightly more upr...ight position to take more load in the lower back. As aerodynamics are not the primary objective in this case, the most comfortable option is best.

Thank you Spencer, for coming to see me. Spencer was a bit of a challenge in that he's had various injuries over the past few years that have had to be allowed for within the Bikefit. He will be cycling from London to Paris in September with me and 250 other riders. 3 bikes, 3 pairs of shoes, nearly 6 hours and I think we've cracked it. We did have tea and a bit of lunch though. 😊

User

I've been asked the difference between my Bikefit and others. Firstly my Bikefit takes around 5 hours. I will fit up to 3 bikes and 3 pairs of shoes for one price. Full body postural assessment. Pedal stroke analysis and post session pedalling efficiency program.... Postural realignment program. Cleat alignment. Unlimited position "tweaks" for the whole time you own that bike. Video analysis. Heart Rate against power graph, to prove the new position. Guarantee that if you're not faster or more aero and comfortable, you don't pay a penny. There are other Bikefitters...

Professionally run but what would you expect with Mr. Wright in involved

I've ridden 2 big endurance events with Ben as one of the Ride Captains and he is genuinely someone that you learn from through every interaction. He's an ex-pro cyclist who's ridden at the highest level but brings no airs or graces whatsoever to working with total amateurs like me and this is one of many traits that make his coaching and expertise so valuable. He'll explain without condescending, encourage without aggression and, most importantly, listen to what you're saying.

If you want to increase your enjoyment of cycling, you won't go far wrong with Ben-efit.

It would also be remiss of me not to mention the fact that Ben is extremely funny and has triumphed over serious adversity in his life so whatever struggles you're facing as you strive for fitness, he'll be able to empathise.

I've been to see bike fitters before but constant problems from my knees have been holding my cycling performance back for a few months now. I know my situation is fairly unique because of several previous injuries so when I heard of Ben Wright and his experience in cycling and sports injury rehabilitation I decided to pay him a visit. I was impressed from the word go - we started with the most pleasant interview I've ever had over a cup of tea in the sun. He asked about my injuries, goals, problems, nutrition, lifestyle and other hobbies. It became obvious that he was listening intently to everything I said because after our chat we moved to his Watt Bike and then the gym for a thorough physical assessment taking in my range of motion, pedalling technique, nutrition, how I stretch and even when I stretch (yes - that's a thing apparently!). Then Lunch and on to my bike, cleat adjustments, saddle adjustments, handlebar position, brake lever placement - he even re-wrapped my bars. I honestly didn't realise there were so many inter-connected aspects to a bike fit. After everything was done we moved outside so he could watch me on a real road surface for a short while and I felt the difference instantly - my already light, stiff and responsive bike felt like it had jumped to a different level and I had absolutely zero issues with my knees. Now I know why Ben has such a good reputation amongst those "in the know". Thank you Ben!.

I've been going to Ben ever since I took the stabilisers off and started following the path of the cyclist. Tremendous advice, support, training, bike fitting - the lot. Highly recommended.

User

I would thoroughly recommend getting a bike fit session with Ben.

I have just completed a challenging two day, 150 mile, cycle to Ypres for the Royal British Legion Industries. I am amazed no more shoulder pain, in fact no aches and pains! Thanks Ben

User

I know I’m biased living with Ben, but after my bike fit I rode my usual quick route and was 3 1/2 minutes faster and achieved 2 personal records on Strava, I’ve definitely felt more comfortable on my bike. I don’t seem to be suffering with neck pain anymore. Which is amazing!! I would definitely recommend a bike fit to anyone who has recently brought a bike or if you’ve changed shape. I’ll be back once baby has arrived

User

Having attended a bike fit and power test with Ben at Ben-efit Bike Fit Studio I cannot recommend his services highly enough. The care and attention taken really was second to none and he really knows how to get the best performance from you on the power tests.

The bike fit includes a full flexibility test, cleat alignment and a discussion of previous problems, issues and injuries you may have had. Each step is explained in detail so you get a real understanding of what adjustments are being made and how they will help gain more comfort and performance. In terms of training plans your goals are listen to and factored into the plan.

If you are looking to get your bike set-up spot and reach the goals you have set yourself this season or nip a niggling injury in the bud then in my experience this is as good as it gets.

A proper personal service.

Great Bike Fit, excellent support and set up. Won't think of going anywhere else - Defo recommend you to everyone

User

First Road bike, first ever bike fit. So glad I asked Ben to do this. His technical and training knowledge is awesome and gets results. His work is respected by professional and amateur riders alike. But... as important for me, he's also excellent at explaining stuff to newbies.

I came away feeling more comfortable on my bike, knowing where my posture could be improved, and finally convinced just how much power I have in my legs.

Awesome... onwards and upwards!

User

Ben and the team have a great, friendly set up for all, whether you're after some casual exercise or have way too close a relationship with Lycra he is the man for you!
