Designer Enid Marx was inspired by toy theatres to create the Menagerie Cut Out Game in 1947. Printed on two sheets of paper with stencils and bold black line, her illustrations transformed into 3D figures when cut out and folded.
Best known for her iconic London Underground fabrics, Enid Marx also designed textiles for the wartime Utility Furniture Scheme and stamps for the Queen’s coronation.
See the landmark exhibition of her work at House of Illustration until 23 September: https://houseofillustration.org.uk/…/en id-marx-print-patter…

What an amazing place! Popped in for a quick look & spent about an hour reminiscing about our child hood toys & choosing gorgeous & interesting gifts. The girls were really helpful & knowledgeable - highly recommend
What a great place and central as well in Covent garden
Wasn't expecting to spend that much at all in there haha but amazing and unique little toy shop and wonderful staff!! Highly recommends!
Toy theatre Central. Lots of charming and original toys too. Always something new.
This place is what I imagine heaven would look like.
This is excellent.
And marvellous.
And outstanding.
The toyshop and the museum are among my top 5 favorite places on EARTH. I lose myself in the magic, wonder and history every time I go. I wish I lived closer, I'd be there every day. I'd probably work there in fact. It would be my dream job.
The only one like it in the world! A step inside its doors and you are magically transported to imagination and creativity!!
Magic place. I bought my first Mr Punch at your marvellous Toyshop.
Love it, love it, love it.
It's a really lovely experience - crammed with really magical items. I purchased a kaleidoscope. Sadly when I removed the price label it removed the majority of the pattern on the cardboard tube spoiling how it looks.
Immediate response and fantastic personal service. Definitely 5 stars for Louise and the team.
If you go to covent garden you have to go to this Outstanding toyshop
I never could have imagined that there were still shops like this! Long may they continue.
I loved the whole experience! From entering thru the big red doorway, up the painted staircase and into the small charming shop! We were greeted by the darling Amy who is so excited to show off all the goodies and easily strikes up a conversation, you can tell she just loves being in this space! We had the honor of meeting the shop keeper Simon who is so kind, fun and passionate about this fine little shop. He is quite the historian regarding Benjamin Pollock and his toy shop. I spent 2hours in this little shop making sure I didn’t miss a thing! Their customer service was superb! They both handled the busy shop with such ease! A true old fashioned toy store with several handmade items, unique cards and the theatres! Oh my the theatres!! There is truly something for everyone, especially the young at heart! Thank you for your fine hospitality!
I love being here... been here more than 3 times.. and everytime I'm so mesmerised with each and every toy or rather item they have... its truly a wonderland. ..
Gorgeous shop! A treasure trove for anyone who loves theatre and theatres, 3D pop models, beautiful cards and postcards, and indeed novelties and vintage style art. Lots of amazing toys too of course, including shadow puppets and things I didn't have time to properly look into (one could spend ages in such a place!). Like a mini museum at a festival (thinking of the charm of the Insect Circus Museum at Glastonbury Festival) except you can buy all the exhibits! Like entering a secret carnival, it has a lovely atmosphere and is definitely a place that lovers of vintage things, unique toys, and collectors (especially of paper cut arts) should head to!
Beautiful shop and a great map drawer!
Absolutely loved this shop. Spent more than l imagined but it was totally worth it! Great ideas for gifts if youre looking for something unique and special
