Ben'S Collector'S Records Description
Ben Darnton has loved music all his life and from early days he has collected records and thanks to his parents and grandparents all being into music, hes turned his hobby into his career for over 30 years! Currently celebrating 22 years of survival at the convenient location at 5 Tunsgate, Guildford, Surrey, GU13QT despite high rents and rates and of course the ever increasing parking charges, the shop continues to thrive. For the last 7 years Ben has organised the increasingly popular monthly Guildford Record Fair in the historical Guildhall located under the clock nearby in the cobbled High Street, Guildford. With 20 stalls of discs and free entry the fair attracts over 700 visitors every time making it one of the busiest record fairs in the UK. Ben is always interested in buying your unwanted records and can sell rare items on a commission basis if preferred so why not drop them in for a no obligation quote?Every month Ben appears between 2-2. 30 pm on BBC Surrey & Sussex 104. 6 FM on the radio show "You and your vinyl " , which is a popular programme hosted by Joe Talbot and Allison Ferns to get your old discs valued on live on air! As well as music Ben loves steam engines and theres a great selection of railway dvds and books always on sale.

Went in there today and brought six LP's for £17 althougher I will come back to buy some more great records the best record shop in Surrey in my opinion.
The secret of Bens is to go often. Sometimes you find nothing, but sometimes you find real gems in there. Wether you find something or not you are guaranteed a wonderful visit. Love it.

I've discovered so much great music thanks to Ben's recommendations, and the atmosphere and conversations in the shop make it a real pleasure to visit. There's always something special or unexpected waiting to be found. You can take a chance on an intriguing-looking record for less than you'd spend on a coffee. For many years this place has broadened my tastes and kept me happy.

Finally got to visit for the first time on Saturday. This place is a rare gem. Some really great LPs at very fair prices and a few bargains too! Ben was serving, what a decent guy. Will be back.

Best record shop I've ever been to and I spend my days off traveling around the country looking for record shops. It's easy when you work for the railway.
Bens is a superb shop, and a great fella too.....always had a chat with Ben over the years, even back when he used to work in other shops.. always has time for people and especially those who share his love of music . He's been in this shop for years now and built up a great reputation... make time for a visit, you'll be glad you did.
Ben's is a proper record shop that I've been going to for about 15 yrs now. Just when you think you've got what you want, you spot that little gem hiding at the back that puts a smile on your face. My fav record shop by far.

Been shopping with Ben since he was in Farnham over 22 years ago.....I used to buy most of Bens CD single promos every Monday lunchtime, kept my DJing career going.... Must admit not been to Guildford for a while, must get over there !!!

A large proportion of my record collection has come from Ben's. A very friendly, knowledgeable bloke who is a pleasure to buy from.
One Sunday some months ago, I spent about 2-and-a-half hours thumbing through every single record in the shop whilst listening to '(among others) Jose Feliciano - Feliciano!" an LP I ended up buying (among others). It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Very rarely am I left empty handed when I make my (not often enough) pilgrimage to Tunsgate.
