We were tasked by Maritime and Coastguard Agency to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust with a male with a dislocated hip at Kingswear. The casualty had slipped on a boat and was brought ashore by the Kingswear water taxi. Once the ambulance crew had assessed him and administered Entonox we strapped the casualty onto our Alpin-lite stretcher and we were then able to transfer him onto the ferry pontoon and from there to the ambulance.

We were tasked this evening by Maritime and Coastguard Agency due to concerns for the safety of what was believed to be a person in the water off Preston beach.
Team members from Berry Head along with Torbay Coastguard and RNLITorbay we’re quickly on scene and able to identify what was believed to be our casualty. ... Thankfully, on this occasion it was just Superman that needed a helping hand!

We were tasked by Maritime and Coastguard Agency to a report of possible ordnance at Brixham harbour. EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) were also informed and were quickly mobilised from their Plymouth base. Devon & Cornwall Police and Brixham harbour staff were also in attendance. We put a 50 metre cordon in place whilst awaiting the EOD's arrival on scene.
Once EOD arrived they quickly identified the ordnance as the propulsion system for a Sea... Wolf sea-to-air missile and took it away in their vehicle for disposal.

We were tasked by Maritime and Coastguard Agency to attend Roundham Head together with Torbay Coastguard to a child cut off by the tide at Savage Hole. Team members first on scene located two people being brought back to the harbour by a passing paddleboarder.
Due to none of the team speaking Bulgarian and the male speaking no English RNLITorbay inshore lifeboat was launched to carry out a shore line search whilst team members searched from abov...e to check no other people were cut off. After all searches were complete the casualties were passed into the care of Devon & Cornwall Police.

Whilst on routine patrol at the Torbay Airshow we were tasked by Maritime and Coastguard Agency to attend Walls Hill, Torquay following a report of an overdue fisherman who had failed to make his way up to Walls Hill after an overnight fishing session at Long Quarry Point. Teignmouth RNLI Lifeboat Station lifeboat was also tasked as were Devon & Cornwall Police and CG helo Rescue 924. Torbay Coastguard were engaged on another job at Babbacombe be...ach but joined us as soon as they had finished.
Initially we sent a cliff technician out to the edge to see if he could spot the casualty with no success. We then set up a double stake holdfast to enable the technician to be lowered through difficult undergrowth to the path below. Meanwhile Torbay CRT set up another holdfast in an adjacent area while Teignmouth Lifeboat put crew ashore to search the base of Long Quarry. Lifeboat crew found the casualty in shrubs on the path and a cliff tech was lowered to his position and they administered first aid.
Rescue 924 winched the casualty to a landing site - which spare team members and police had set up - to meet with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust ambulance crew who took the casualty to hospital.
Great teamwork from all as usual and an excellent outcome for the casualty.

Team members were out on routine patrol today to provide safety cover for the Torbay Airshow. Our SO Berry Head Alpha was also on duty in the flight control centre with our Area Commander. Fantastic weather for an airshow and despite there being thousands of spectators in the vicinity the day was largely trouble-free.

We were woken this morning by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency to reports of a person in the water near Princess Pier, Torquay.
Members from our flank team Torbay Coastguard were first on scene, together with officers from Torquay Police they were able to throw a nearby life ring to the casualty. This allowed RNLITorbay’s Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) to be able to locate the casualty quickly and secure him inside their vessel whilst providing initial fi...rst aid assistance. They then transported the casualty around to Torquay marina where he was handed over to a waiting South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust ambulance.
