Fabulous day today on a CPD (continuing professional development) seminar over near Portsmouth with lovely Sue Pratt. This is gorgeous Buddy who belongs to the fantastic Kaye Bigmore, I can’t thank you enough for bringing him to me, trusting me to do what I wanted and being so helpful and accommodating!

World earth day Being kind to the environment is high on my list of priorities and that’s why all the shampoo is environmentally friendly. Not only does it clean your dog amazingly and is good for their skin and hair, but it breaks down fully and contains no chemical or optical brighteners which are known to damage the environment. All the fragrances are naturally derived. The shampoos, conditioners and fragrances that I use are certified vegan, cruelty free and endorsed by The Nature Watch foundation 🌱

Written by my friend who works with the dog wardens so sees this daily...
Hi all! Following on from the post yesterday about microchipping I thought we'd delve a little deeper into what to do during and in preparation for if your dog went missing.
Some might think it will never happen to them, or that their dogs wouldn't run off. Trust me it happens to everyone. Kids leaving the door open, postman leaving the gate open, wind blows a fence panel down, dog is attacked by anothe...r dog and runs off, dog is stolen during a house burglary, dog gets spooked, dog chases something, dog jumps out of house/car window, goes missing from the garden, runs away from the dog walker/sitter.....trust me there are plenty of ways to loose your dog.
So, what can you do? Firstly, be prepared before your dog even goes missing. Collars, tags and microchip. If your dog is prone to losing tags, get a light coloured collar and write your phone number on it with a sharpie pen. Re-do it every now and then. If your dogs don't wear a collar, (although it is required by law when in public), then at least have their chip details up to date.
Secondly, and I didn't even know this until yesterday, you can pre-register your dog on Doglost πŸ‘ Then, God forbid, if they go missing, instead of faffing about in a panic putting all the details in, you can just mark them as missing.
Thirdly, to add to the last step....take pictures and make notes! NOT everyone is on Facebook. If your dog has gone missing and not recovered in the first few hours, then you need to think about putting up posters. Doglost supply a great template for this. We all have cute pictures of our dog gallavanting about or tucked up asleep, but for best results, you should have clear, up to date pictures of your dogs from side on and front on. Also, make notes of any unusual markings or blemishes they may have that they can be identified by. I've put a couple of my own dogs photos as examples. And by blemishes, e.g Boomer has a big wart on the end of his tail. Bane has a fatty lump under his right armpit ect. Good things to know just in case their chip has migrated and isn't found or has gone faulty.
And lastly, if your dog has gone missing, alert your chip company, then your local dog warden, then your local vets, doglost, social media and also check and see which is the nearest 24 hour vets in your area and let them know πŸ‘
All this will be easier if you keep the numbers stored in your phone. The number for Hastings, Rother and Wealden dog wardens is 01424490034. But all other districts dog warden numbers can be found online πŸ‘ Have the relevant numbers in your phone to save yourself time trying to find them in an emergency.
Hopefully none of you will have to go through this, but accidents happen and being prepared is key.
Stay safe πŸ‘πŸΆ
