Sharing again, it’s a warm one today. Keep your dogs safe and keep them cool. Heat stroke can creep up on our dogs without us realising. Always better to be safe than sorry where our dogs are involved. 👍

A post worth sharing if you know people who love their dogs. Sadly I hear of a lot of people being told it’s okay to use choke collars, often termed training collars or worse from supposed experts.
It’s not okay to use these contraptions, and the great news is you can train a dog perfectly well without them if you find the right force free trainer.
We are proud to be force free, reward based trainers at Best Behaviour Dog Training.

A massive Thankyou to everyone that attended the Understanding and managing problem behaviours talk last night. We hope you found it useful and Thankyou for helping raise money for the Blue Cross Rehoming Centre Suffolk.

We are delighted to announce we are proud event partners of Suffolk Dog Day, allowing us to bring genuine force free dog training knowledge to the event.
Organisers of the event have your dogs needs and welfare at the heart of what they do, and when we explained our training and how it works we were over the moon to hear they are just as passionate as us when it comes to being kind to your dog.
Here’s an article on keeping your dog happy ... https://www.suffolkdogday.com/what-is-the -recipe-for-a-hap…/

I thought I would share this info graphic as it ties in nicely with some recent posts. The points that stand out for me are things that affect your dog emotionally such as:
1. Scary or unpredictable reactions from important humans. 2. Set up to fail and then get punished for it. 3. Unclear training, not knowing how to get reinforcement.
... Did you know scientific research shows that using punishment and reward together actually increases the mean aggression scores in dogs due to the inconsistency in the methods.
Training should always be positive for the dog, if you find yourself punishing or telling off a dog. You need to set them up for success or seek advice from a qualified accredited force free trainer that can help you do this.
