Bethany City Church

We are building a community whose aim is to live and love like Jesus and to get the people of Sunderland into heaven.

Bethany City Church is a motley crew of Christians and their friends who come together to worship God.

We meet at the Bede Tower every Sunday at 11am and 6pm. During the rest of the week we use a variety of venues including cafés and a local church – flexibility is central to our philosophy of doing church.

Join us on a Sunday and you will meet both established Christians and others who are just looking. Some of us have been Christians for years, others have just started the journey, and many are not too sure what they believe. We are quite an international crowd – for example, one of our ‘Alpha’ courses included people from ten different nationalities !

What kind of church are we? We are an independent evangelical church – not affiliated to any of the big denominations – but we have good relationships with local churches of all kinds and we work together regularly on projects that serve the people of our city. We are neither traditional nor wacky; we seek to live and pass on our Christian faith in a way that is relevant to life today.
