Good selection of bikes and mostly friendly service. Can be busy at peak times so expect a wait. Unfortunate that, if you want to hire for more than one day, you have to bring the bikes back each night and go through exactly the same routine the following day, including hanging around for a free person.

We have been booking with Bike Smart for many years. Always excellent, Friendly service. Easy to pre-book by phone and we are usually lucky enough to catch one of the free parking spaces with our advanced booking. Helmets, panniers and locks included. We usually cycle the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow, lock the bikes up, then meander through Padstow for a Cornish Pasty or Fish n Chips for lunch. Prideaux Place is also a lovely spot for a cream tea if your legs will take the uphill walk after your cycle ride! Then back to the bikes for a lovely return ride along the estuary enjoying the fab views. Bike Smart is our "go to place" for the Camel Trail..... never had anything but excellent service from this friendly firm.

Whilst on holiday in Cornwall with a friend we decided to hire a bike. This was the first time she had tried it. We wanted two trikes but only one was available when we rang, so we hired another one from a company just a few yards from Bike Smart. I went to Bike Smart and was happy with their service however, this was more than enhanced when after about 10-15 minutes of taking the trikes out, my friend was experiencing pain in her knee and we had to return the trikes. When I returned mine and told them the reason, I was told straightaway they would give me a refund, this even though it was not me who had experienced a problem. I said it was such a shame I had to return it and the assistant, I can't remember his name, said "well at least you tried". I thought this kind of customer care was long gone. My friend had a disgusting response from her company. If you want a company that have gimmicky uniform yellow tee shirts and a do not care attitude then do not use this company but, if you want something much more priceless then you can't do better than use these people and I have no reservations recommending them. Thank you so much.

discriminated against disabled families.

I contacted Bike Smart via the email link on their website due to intermittent mobile signal in Cornwall while on holiday. I did not receive a reply but made sure that we arrived at opening time to ensure that we could hire sufficient bikes for our party. We parked in the allocated car park at the rear of the establishment and waited for the rest of our party to arrive. My husband arrived and drove to the rear at which point a grey haired older man said he could not accommodate a trailer. I informed him that the trailer was carrying his mobility scooter but the gentleman refused to allow him to park on site. I tried to find a solution to the problem, perhaps I could park elsewhere and my husband could stay but the man just kept walking away when I was trying to figure out a compromise. The whole experience was very upsetting as the staff were not interested in accommodating a disabled member of my party who wanted to enjoy a day on the Camel Trail with able bodied cyclist. I even pointed out that a larger car which arrived after us was parked in a space that could have easily accommodated both my husband’s car and trailer. In short, We were an inconvenience to be brushed aside until I pointed out that customer service was atrocious and that I fully intended to spread the word on the web that they discriminated against disabled families.

Very friendly and helpful. We hired from them last year and still received the same customer service level but the main reason is the car park!. If we visit next year I'm sure we'll use again. We were fortunate enough not to get a puncture but I was informed to call if we needed help. I'd prefer this than me carrying a kit and fixing the puncture!!
