We’re so proud of our lovely franchisee, Kirsty, for speaking out about the languages crisis we are facing here in the U.K.
Whether you’re a BilinguaSing fan, bilingual mummy or languages teacher - we all can play a part to influence those around us to be more open to the idea that ‘English is not enough’.
Our own little ones are a great place to start!

Here’s what happened when Ellie (aka my big sister!) responded to the BBC article today! How did she do?!
'How learning a foreign language changed my life' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47390760

It’s such a shame to read that the number of children choosing to study a language at GCSE is at a record low 😞
As an ex-secondary school teacher myself I understand the pressures that headteachers are under to get the best results from their pupils hence many of them are ‘steered away’ from choosing a foreign language as part for their GCSE option choices as they are just considered ‘too hard’ and not a ‘safe choice’.
All the more reason to start teaching languages here in t...he UK earlier. Break down the barriers to learning and make languages fun and accessible again. When children are younger they are less inhibited - we should follow in the footsteps of the rest of Europe and get them learning from the get-go!

So many parents ask us how they can get more Spanish into their daily lives and make it more of a ‘family thing’! In this digital age it is now SO easy to access Spanish learning opportunities. Here’s one…tune into a Spanish radio station! Commit to it for a week and see how it goes. For newbies, we really recommend Los Cuarenta Principales radio – it’s family-friendly and they alternate between current English and Spanish-language tracks so there is enough to keep everyone happy!

A very interesting article - it talks about the 'imprint' that other languages leave on a baby's brain. Proof that it doesn't matter if they can't yet talk - any language exposure has a positive impact!
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Or perhaps you know someone who has?

It is never too early to introduce a baby to another language. Here at BilinguaSing we sing, we learn and we have fun! Just check out what happened when the BBC visited our classes! 🇫🇷🇪🇸🎤🧒🏼🎵🎶 https://goo.gl/QdTM5d

"Why teach my child a second language before they have even mastered English"?
We hear this question now and again...this article does a great job of addressing some of those niggles!

Joyeux Chandeleur! If you're in France, you may be participating in the age-old tradition of eating up any wheat flour left in the pantry in the form of delicious crêpes 😋🥞🥞🇫🇷
So is this the French equivalent of Shrove Tuesday?
No - Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras), when many other people around the world are eating pancakes, is more associated with eating fatty foods ahead of Lent.
... Hmmm…an excuse to practise our crêpe-making technique today, anyone??!

It's hard to believe but bilingual children tend to have significantly larger density of grey matter - babies grow new brain cells to process new languages! Our babies are absolutely incredible, aren't they!? 🇫🇷🇪🇸🎤🧒🏼🎵🎶

"No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite." - Nelson Mandela
Let our little ones start the languages revolution - let them open doors between cultures and make the world a more communicative, tolerant, understanding & beautiful place 😔💔 🌷🌼🌻
