STATEMENT FROM THE CLUB RE THE BASILDON PLAN:
At the 2017 AGM, we informed the membership that at that time BCC was not affected by the Basildon Plan, as the proposed relief road (the boundary to the housing development) was to run to the east of us, along the land separating the cricket club and the football club. Since then, the plan has been revised by the council and now they propose to run the road across our land at the far end, running parallel to the stream. Although ...nothing has been set in concrete, the committee has taken the view that it is sensible to engage the club in the process and so we have had meetings with developers interested in building on our land. This is the start of a very long and complicated process, which we envisage taking around ten years from start to finish. The standpoint of the club is that while we are happy to engage in discussions, we do not have a need to move and we will not move unless the new location is acceptable and the new facilities will be a significant upgrade on what we already have. This means we need to stay within close distance of Billericay and our new ground will meet standards already in force from Sport England and the ECB, such as female changing rooms, improved indoor nets and a clubhouse that can be run more sustainably. If we get to the stage when all our criteria are met, it will be put before the membership for approval. We must stress that we are at the very early stages of the whole process, with nothing firm proposed or agreed. We are aware of a lot of rumours circulating on social media regarding our situation, but please be advised we will update you at every stage of developments.
We have instructed a land agent - Bidwells - who are giving us professional guidance in conjunction with our solicitors. The current situation is that one of the developers, Taylor Wimpey, has drawn up a Heads of Terms document. This is a proposal of how we take things forward and ahead of any formal agreement, they are looking for us to enter into exclusivity talks with them. Local elections may hinder progress, but we would expect the council inspector to be pushing for more detail in late summer/early autumn.
The heads of terms proposal will take much discussion and negotiation but even then it will not become binding until we have instructed solicitors. Again we will keep you abreast of meaningful progress, but we need to get this exactly right and make sure we get the best deal possible IF we are to relocate. Can I stress that if we do agree to move, we will not vacate Blunts Wall Road until the new ground is fully built and ready to stage matches. To give you an idea, the new ground will take five years from breaking ground to a ball being bowled

Hi All,
I am now the organiser of the 200 Club, apologies that a Q1 draw has not taken place due to the lack of a volunteer to run the 200 Club over the past months. Due to this the Q1 and Q2 draws will both take place at the end of June in order to allow members to join and pay into the Club.
For those who are new the 200 Club works as a lottery, with each number costing just £12 per year. Half of this money is allocated to the prizes with the other half donated to BCC to co...ntinue supporting the club. Last year the prize fund was £966 which meant 1st prize each quarter took home £120. Once payments have been received and the amount of numbers purchased known, I will confirm the prize fund for 2019, the more numbers sold the higher the prizes!
If you wish to join up, ask any questions, or pay for current numbers please do not hesitate to contact me with your Name, Email Address, Home Address and how many numbers you would like. I will then contact you directly with details of how to pay (bank transfers and cheques accepted).
Thank you for your continued support of the 200 Club and Billericay CC.
